Used Car Prices

A coworker was looking for a used car recently and I couldn't believe how much used car prices have stabilized.

I found this link:

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/03/27/002075.html

It appears that for the time being even prices on Oldsmosauruses has stabilized if not gone up a few dollars.

Yeah that is surprising. Our 2002 GL2 with its options, low mileage, and excellent condition has a NADA average retail of $9600. :grinyes:

Mine will be paid off soon (or what I think to be soon). I'm gonna keep this thing til it dies and run it into the ground.

What is the nada value mean, is that a dealer price, or average price? I check Kelly's blue book, didn't see NADA, but I found:

99` GLS 3.4 4 door 100k Good Condition

Trade-in $2,610
Private Party $4,115
Suggested Retail $6,260

If I could get $6k i'd sell it today.

The NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association) book is what new and used car dealers use to determine your cars value. The Kelly is a good guide but if the dealers go by that price you will get ripped off.

The NADA guides have average retail, trade-in value (what dealer's give) and loan value.

See www.nada.com and run your car through and see what it says.

Ok cook, nada trade in $4,600 and retail $6,150.

I bet I couldn't even get $4,600 for this. I only paid $3800 2 yrs ago when it had 60k. The value of nada may be up there, but do people really pay those prices?

Holy crap. If I were you I would find a Jetta TDi or a Civic. I can barely afford 25 bucks a week for gas.

Geez I show have fixed up my Alero before I sold it. Average trade is 3600 and the Retail was 5,000. 99Gx with 86,000 miles on it. Sigh oh well it was wrecked (still drivable) so I sold it to a friend that really needed a car badly for 500. Sad thing is that I left a set of rims on it that she could easily make her money back on if she sold them

I would like to say close to 19 or so, well, im doing about 80mph comming out of cleveland. and about...give or take...eee 16ish around town. Every time i try to calculate it, its a different # every time. This is the best i got. Keep in mind i have 138,700mi on it. Im getting a new pair of tires for my car on thursday, yokohama avid H4s. i think thats the name. all season high preformance tire.

What do think? 95 bucks a tire. What do you think about the design? Worth it?
