Hey guys, as you can see I am a total newbie when it come to Hondas!

I currently drive a Clio 172, however I have just bought a 1991 Civic 1.6 16V 130 BHP for doing track days at the local circuit and to keep the miles of the 172.

I'm looking for some simple mods to begin with, exhaust system, induction kit, brake upgrade, susspension upgrade and a set of performance tyres. What do you guys reccomend? I haven't got an idea!

What can realistically be gained from these engines by allowing it to breath?

Thanks

Paul

Well most people get Intake and Exhaust because it helps when you get more and more mods.

I would find either a simple intake kit or a Cold Air Intake kit if you want to spend more money. As for exhaust, if you say you have a Renault Clio then I assume you aren't from the US, and seeing as I don't know about the rest of the world, but around here best bet is to find a nice Axel-Back Exhaust (basically the muffer section) and then have a shop custom make you piping from the Cat Converter to the Axel.

As for brakes unless you are very hardcore I have heard a lot of people say good Brembo Rotors, Steel Braided Brake Lines, good pads, and of course good tires will give you the best realistic stopping power.

Suspension Upgrades I would suggest would be first lower it with springs on coil-overs (adjustable springs), then get a front strut bar, rear strut bar, lower tie bar, then 22mm rear sway bar (don't get a front strut bar it causes bad oversteer and is sort of dangerous for street use anyway). Then get some rims, I would suggest lightweight ones. I have Rota Slipstreams which weigh 11.9lbs over the 20lbs that the Steel Rims weigh. I have Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 tires and I would suggest those but there are a lot of good tires around (Falken Azenis, Michelin Pilots, etc...).

Actually you may not have a Cat if you country doesn't have strict emissions regulations.

I'm not positive on the weight of you car but I would think maybe a little under 2200lbs. I don't know what that is in kilos though.

i highly suggest Bracer's site (http://www.carpage.tmfweb.nl/civic.htm) it is the best place on the next for EDM info...from stock curb weight to performance parts (products).
