Mounting a Battery

Hey guys i need help mounting a full size gel/dry cell batter in the stock location. I would like it to sit lowe and using the stock tie down. Any tips or advice.

Relocate to the trunk, I know its not what you want to hear...you maybe be able to turn it sideways, I know theres some room over the trans, but you want stock tiedowns...

Beat it into submission with a hammer. You can drop the stock battery tray down about two inches I belive, dont know what tranny you have or the size of your battery, so cant tell you anything specific.

I have a DOHC ZC with a ZC tranny. Right now my clutch cable rubs against the battery. It is the same size as a yellow top. Got any pics of the beat up battery tray?

i'm guessing that the battery you're talking about is taller or just generally larger than a normal civic battery.

i hate to say this, but other than the old "i just can't fit it under the hood" problem, i don't see the point of moving 10 pounds of weight to the rear of the car. a lot of people half-ass the job as well. they'll just leave the battery loose in the hatch area to slide around, fall, break, spill acid, burn, burn, burn... and so on.

another thing to think about is if you move it to the trunk, you have to have an external kill switch labeled on the back of your car, if you ever plan on running it at the track.

Not sure if this would help any, but maybe slide your battery over as far to the left (toward passenger side) as possible and then just fab up a horizontal tie down with some Auto Part store battery tie down holders... the metal ones with the hooks on the bottom and threaded tops for rubber grommets and washers. I used my CAI tie down cuz it conveniently has holes on each end that are the same width as my battery. The tie down poles sit in the holes and all is pretty tight.

Optima makes a thin one for that will fit in the stock location (unless you already have the larger one). Mine fit fine until I put it in the back.
