Yep, springs are what supports the weight of the vehicle, struts just dampen the oscillation. If a vehicle is sagging and it's not just due to being overloaded, the springs are probably the problem.
However, it may be an optical illusion or personal preference that leads you to think most are sagging (or it may in fact be broken or sagging springs).
Before making the investment in new springs, have the ride height measured. Yours may be right where it's supposed to be. In that case, new springs probably won't make it sit noticeably higher.

-Rodon cars in general i agree with you and this may be the case here. but according to another auto hangout taurus club forums. the generation 3 and 4 tauruses have a problem with the rear shocks are worn prematurely out. they call it saggy #$* syndrom
some years even have a silent recall to replace them after they break.

I believe that is the springs that have a tendency to break rather than the struts.
However, it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong....

Remember when we used to pay to lower the rear of a car?
If your springs were broken, you would know about it.
You can buy coil spring booster accessories, they are little blocks usually made out of alumnium that twist in between the coils.
