TCC circuit malfunction

My dads gf has a 96 Tracker with an 1.6L 4 cyl engine, an automatic transmission, and 4wd. The check engine light is on and it is getting a P0740 (TCC circuit malfunction). Has anyone fixed this themselves before? I imagine it is a TCC solenoid and that it is behind the transmission pan. Does anyone know if there is a relay in the system as well? Would anyone know where the solenoid would be under the transmission pan? Any help would be great.

yes there is a relay for the torque converter clutch on mine it was located on the fender well pass. side i think also a speed sensor on the rear end.

THE SOLENOID IS LOCATED ON THE VALVE BODY OF THE TRANS. iF YOU HAVE A 4X4 YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE FRONT DRIVESHAFT. BE SURE TO MARK IT SO IT WILL BE REINSTALLED PROPERLY. TO CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT IS WORKING, DRIVE TO 45MPH AND LIGHTLY PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF THE RPMS INCREASE IT IS WORKING CORRECTLY. IF THEY REMAIN THE SAME YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE.
