I have been using the program for over 4 years since the old school Guitar Pro 2, recently "aquired" GP5 and it kicks ass. I have 6 tabs and 5 (or so) corrections up on MySongBook.com as well as compose my own material.
Anyone else use this?

Occaisonally but only when I can't find a normal tab online. Has cool features, but I don't really find it that necessary because if I'm trying to learn a song I probably have it on the computer.

GuitarPro is an invaluable tool for learning guitar, it's mute, solo and full band features with the techniques (hammer ons, hamonics, tapping, vabrato etc) inbuilt and the speed (tempo) tool which allows you to slow down sections makes learning songs, parts of songs and improving specific techniques a must-have.
I'm am teaching half my students the program, and the other half later, the improvements are significantly higher in the students with the programme, over the next few weeks I will be implementing the programme to all my students (I teach guitar)
www.mysongbook.com (http://www.mysongbook.com) has over 40,000 tabs.
You can also produce your own backing tracks, cut out the rhythm/lead guitars, burn it to CD (I use winamp to convert from MIDI to WAV) and you have you're own backing tracks!
Guitar Pro Is a professional program, obiously not as supirior as Finale or Sibelious, but pretty damn good.

hahaha, awesome.
I got a bunch of my own shit written in Gp as well.
It's so good, I can write perfect harmony's, and work out what sounds good with what and incorporate my own bass and drum's into what I've done.
I can do things thanks to the program I didn't think I could do, I incorporated a string section over a solo I wrote in guitarpro that I added out of sheer bordom to a song we wrote and recorded as a band, turned out pretty good.

It's that or tabs if I'm too stupid/drunk to figure it out by ear. Tabs help but I can usually pull it off just listening to a song.

Haha! I was just pulling your guys strings! Back when I first started playing(about 20years ago) I used Tabs too. At least for parts of a song, then its easy to figure out the rest if you know the root notes and what not.
Its just a waste of money for me though.. Keep playing!

You didn't hear this from me...
Apparently.. you can..."hypthetically", assuming correct hardware and time frame, "connect" to a "p2p" file-ware software system and "aquire" it from another source.
I've said too much. :banghead:
hey, I think it's easyer to write stuff with than on guitar as well, how can you be a cheat :p all the great composers wrote their works on scores, not sat at a piano or played every part on every instrument :p

Is there anyway do upload GP files like when uploading to imageshack, and start a sticky thread where we all who compose our own stuff, posts and listen to eachothers creations? That'd be so cool.
