i have a 92 talon tsi. i have this noise coming from the passenger front and it sounds terrible. so i figure it is the wheel bearing. i just ordered and have 2 new wheel bearings. so today i needed to do my egr block off and put a downpipe gasket so i figured shake the wheel see whats up, anyways the wheel moves up and down like a couple inches at least its bad, now my ball joints and tie rods all have maybe 50 miles on them so it cant be that, does anyone think its the wheel bearing being broke out or something i have no idea what it is any help would be good.

Sounds like the balljoint to me... Only other possibility would be something is very loose or unbolted. A couple inches of play is definetly something to worry about but I wouldn't think the wheel bearing would allow it to move that much. The wheel would have fallen off way before letting it move a couple inches like that.

is it the knuckle or the hub that moves?

i dont know what is moving really yet i didnt get that good of a look. i turned the wheel away from the car and checked the ball joint and tie rod and they are solid as a rock no movement at all which it should be they are brand new. when i shake the wheel all i can see is the whole rotor and all is moving like its not attached or something. maybe the hub is loose or something im not sure im going to rip it down tommorrow.

you can check the wheel bearing by lifting the tire in question in the air and turning the wheel and hold the spring and feel for roughness
