I can tell you from alot of experience with system installations, that it will be mostly all bass, not highs..... Right now in my 92 firebird I have a 8 speaker system, that thumps real loud, bass and highs... You might want to put 10" speakers instead of 12".. 12" might not fit, 10" will fit in a box that sits perfect in the back.. I know on ebay motors they sell custom enclosures for 10" speakers, not sure if they have them for 12" at least for a firebird... Check that out, if they have a enclosure for 12" speakers for a firebird you will have no problem... I can tell you what I got in my firebird : The 4 stock speakers, also 2-10" speakers and 2-6x9 speakers in the back.. The 10" speakers and the 6x9's are hooked up to a 800 watt power acoustic amp...
If anything make your own custom enclosure for the 12" if you buy them. Just take some dimensions of the trunk to see how much room you have to work with..

I dig my stock stereo.
Wouldn't be able to hear anything over the exhaust anyways.
I used to be into stereos. Installed a pretty nice system in my old Grand Am.
You will need a box, wiring, an amp, and time to install Erdal. Not going to be $50 to get them working. More like $400.
In my opinion, kinda a waste in a sporty car like ours. All it does it add weight.

so man,
why wouldnt 12'' speakers fit on trunk? also do u have any pics custom sopeakers on firebird? or any idea about excat the same place to put? do l have to cut anywhere on trunk? how am l gonna hook up?
just need some instructions actually..
they are 800 watt each so l will have 1600 watt plus those little speakers 150 watt each..
well l wanna put 2 speakers on my trunk and make my car sounds crazy..
can l install those by myself??

You don't have enough power to push those subs without an amplifier Erdal.

Walmart speakers most likely suck man.
Stereo stuff is pretty much 'get what you pay for.'
Meaning the cheaper it is, the lower quality it is.
My old subs were 12" subs and cost me $325 EACH.
You need an amp, lots of wiring, a box for the subs, and time. Custom box costs around $200. Wiring...probably $50-75. Amp...depends on if you go cheaper. My old amps cost me $550 each, and I was running two of them.
Of course...I was running Orion shit at the time. Top of the line back then.

Hey doodad , I hav a cute drawing of my speaker box w/12" in my firechicken..... I dont hav the box here or Id get the exact deminsions.
The overall hieght is about 16-17", and the depth is 22-24"(it doesnt hav to be that deep) and width is about 32'.
my box started as a square because I'm a dumb ass and didnt measure the clearance at the very back of the glass, so it hit/rubbed the window, and I took it back apart and cut it down. Measure 4-5 times cut once! :)
Mine doesnt hav subs, they are 250w Thump Loud speakers, wich carries mid-lows(lots of guitars and drums) then the highs and mids are going to the rest of the typical speaker spots. I just hav a Pioneer ST and a Jenson 200amps.
Cost me 120$ for the 3/4" ply and a box of screws, 30$ for the terminal connections(two from Radioshack) and some good speaker wire(16g for the smaller speakers and 14g to the subs) $30, and the speakers $200pair. Under $400 and its heavy and tuff! Thats --the radio/amps though, thats another $300+.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/speakerbox.jpg
The yello lines are ports, the red obviously the speakers.
It has a middle devider, thats ported to each half to balance them. And ports in the front, about the size of the bottom of a moose cup(dont ask).
Just giving you some ideas, enjoy.

This is what I had in my '94...though it cost some money to get it all right...
and 12"s fit...thats what these were. I also has an aftermarket head that could pysh my mids and highs enough to compensate for the subs.

Amp was a bit weak for the subs, but on these cars, the subs funnel the sound forward anyway so you don't need a lot of power. That box cover is from Q-logic (crutchfield), the amp is a Rockford cheapie 300 watt, and the subs were Kickers at first then Rockford 12s. You could probably do a setup like that for under $800 if you used all new components and maybe less than $500 if you got some good used speakers and amps and just got the box surround plastic cover new. I take it youre leaning more toward keeping the car again :-p

there is nothing l can do!!
l bought the corolla and l was gonna sell the formula but that damn corolla has noise from engine and clutch is the worst clutch l have evern seen.. it is about to die and 550 bucks for repair.. and l just replaced the starter. (bought the part for 120 bucks..
also l put brand new radiator into formula.. l am thinking now, if l seel the bird and keep the toyota would be stupid.. cuz toyota already needs some works such as clutch.. but firebird will be all set after tune up..
l am in the middle man, every single second l change my mind, lately l dont feel ok because of these cars.. l bought one to be happy but it is crap too.. l dont know whatelse to do..

Well, at this point, you could almost keep one running at all times so you have a backup. So, when you're working on the firebird, you have the toyota and vise versa. Just dont spend a whole lot on the toyota as it should probably be your beater that you drive when working on the other one only. I bet you could keep the toyota running without putting a whole lot of money in it so long as you're extra gentle on it until the Formula is running again.

l ain't putting nothing on corolla.. l tinted her windows and replaced the starter and thats enough for her..
firebird.. l am still not sure about replacing opti, spark plugs and wires by myself.. but l really do not wanna pay 800 bucks too..
l will see what is gonna happen. but my heart is with firebird.. l know l shouldnt keep that car but l cant help it.. cuz l spent 6k bucks on it and as u guys know l just put brand new radiator on it.. l guess she is gonna be brand new after l replace the opti..

You dont have to have a big box for the trunk either. Depending on how deep your subs are you can get some truck boxes, which are smaller, and stick them on the "shelf" behind your rear seats. Thats what i did with mine. i have 2 12" pioneers. it doesn't give you the LOUDEST or DEEPEST tone that the bigger box would have but it gives you enough to sound pretty good for rap and rock. unless you buy walmart subs and amps... ha ha

when l got my LT1. right away l signed up here and then check on ebay, turbo kits, headers etc.. l wanted to put some bolts on it, but the damn car didnt let me, all the time it broke down.. while l was fixing a part, another part was breaking down and l ended up spening 6k on this. so l didnt hvae chance to put some bolts on execpt flowmaster muffler. even the muffler wasnt for performance, while l was driving my pipe flew away.. and l had to replace the muffler and they told me that l had to put flowmaster on this cuz l already had lowmaster cat back on.

ErdalI cant remember the price i paid for my sub-box. I got it from the local La Salle before it closed up. It wasnt on sale or a special deal, but i know i didnt pay more than $50 for it. The box except the speaker grills is completely flat and drops perfectlly in the t-top holder. Ive got Dual 12" Massive subs, put the amp off to the side in the spare tire space. I usually just set the t-top either on top of the box( no vibration or noise from this) or have the back seat layed down. Set t-tops there also Those Q-Logic boxes are nice but what ive got is exactly the same color as the surrounding carpet. smoke gray or whatever you call it. Ive a 98 Black TA
