Hi everyone,
I have a 2000 yukon xl with the 5.3. It cranks fine and at cold start idles at about 7000 rpm's. After warmup it will drop to 5000 rpm and run smooth.
The problem is when I turn on the ac it still remains at 5000.
This causes stalling at red lights, completing turns without ps or brakes untill I can pop it into neutral and restart. Befor I lay my wallet wide open at the dealer, Does anyone know what is supposed to increase the idle when the air is turned on?? Something I could test or replace myself.
The easy answer is turn off the ac and drive, but this is fl and the HOT season is already here. Any help is appreciated.

The Idle Air Control Valve is suppose to raise the idle when it drops below a certain point, including when the a/c is turned on.
