okay i'm not sure if my GReddy type-RS is leaking or creating compressor surge. the problem is i don't have a boost gauge yet, so i can't tell.
I've searched all around and i've read what sounds i should be looking for. BOV blowing off under full boost, and turkey gobble under low throtal for compressor surge.
okay under low throtal i get a slight whistle, that sounds like a bird. I thought this was compressor surge so i lossened it about 5 turns, and i stil get the same exact sound.
under full boost i get the same shhhhhhh suction sound i got with stock bov. I started to get this suction sound after my intake, so i always assumed it was the intake. but i'm not sure.
not too many turbo cars around here... so no one to get in my car and listen.
plese help!

I think with the RS you can still do the single spring mod. I was having problems with my Type-S BOV and I did the single spring mod and it fixed it, and made it more adjustable.

:Iagree: Take it apart and only use the heavier spring and it will work better

well I have the RS and have never had to deal with what you're talking about, but here is what I like to do to all greddy BOV's
loosen the fucker almost all the way, blow off around full boost, then blow off around mid boost. Then tighten it half a turn and do this again. Keep doing it until you hear a "gobble" at mid boost. Then turn it back half a turn to where it didn't do this. This is the tighest spring you can have without it not opening fully. No boost gauge will make things a BIT tougher, but you know when your turbo is full spooled, and you know when it's about halfway done.

well i noticed today that the suction sounds STOPS at 4k rmps instantly, and all i hear is vroooom. basicly once turbo is spooled suction sound stops. so its not the bov leaking off at full boost...

okay its fixed... sorta!
I took some advice and tightened the bov. now no more suction sound!!! it was leaking, same as stock sound. so stock was leaking.
i just test drove it. the sound is 90% gone. :)
my bov sound has a slight chirp or whistle now. i get no surge sound like cha cha cha turkey call. should i tighten more until i get that surge sound, then loosen just until i don't?

I would guess it's the same for the type rs.

wow that helps a lot!! thanks
so i want it soft as possible with out blowing off under boost... i should try and loosen it a little. just to where it can hold the pressure. basicly a gauge would help this
but right now i think its pretty good. no flutter that i can tell, and its not blowing off under boost
i feel like i added 30hp is 30 secs. its not leaking now, and i think i just gave my self whiplash.
