LS1...not good enough haha

Well i ran into a red LS1 today on my way home. This thing sounded so friggin' mean, i thought i was going to regret pickin' a fight with this car. Seriously his car was so much louder than mine i was amazed at how it sounded. To say it was intimidating would be an understatement. Ok well anyway the dude was pretty cool, i rolled down my window (passenger side) and asked him if he wanted to go. he said sure (gave me a nod). So i honked 3 times. BAM we both down shift at almost exactly the same time. I started pulling immediately but only got to about a half a car before we had to shut down for traffic. I was happy, gave him a thumbs up and he did the same. Real cool guy probably in his early 20's like myself. Oh yeah i forgot to mention this was on the highway. Not from a dig. So it was pretty fun and all, he had to exit i kept on goin' to head home. Fun race, just wish i could have gotten all the way through 4th gear to see how much i could've pulled on him. That particular LS1 got my respect tonight for sure heh.

Naw it was definately an ls1. I know the diffferences between LS1's and LT1's. Oh yeah sorry, i got a 331 with H/C/I. Put down 350rwhp. And don't those ls1's dyno like 310-320 stock? and this one wasn't stock so it makes sense i didn't pull hard on him. Like i said though it did sound mean as crap.

I love takin' them on because they're my best match on the street. Well '03 cobras as long as their stock. Which there's not to many stock supercharged cobras where i live. So i look for the best N/A car i can and the LS1 is definately it. Well unless i run into another Foxbody with a stroker heh. But there's not to many of them either.

Good kill. I believe it would take a well modded LS1 to beat you, seeing as to how light your car is. Then again most LS1 owners don't keep their car stock :D

Yeah that's true i don't run into many stock LS1's anymore. I think i ran into 1 WS6 that had just exhaust. That's the closest to stock LS1 i've run into. But the same can be said about foxbody stangs, not to many stock ones on the street anymore heh.

EDIT: Actually i have to disagree with you. I don't think it would take much for an ls1 to beat me, LS1's are 346 cu in. correct? And i think their heads from the factory are very good. To be honest all i truely think it would take is some Exhaust, intake, and cam to go along with those. That's pretty much it. They already have 15 more cubes to work with. Doesn't sound much but in a side-by-side race those extra 15 cubes might come in handy ya know?

I want to run a stock LS1 car.
I really just want to drive one again.

Just want to get an idea of where I started, I can't remember.

Not to mention, that the LS1 cars are aerodynamicly superior to that of your Foxbody. So you've got that fighting against you as well... which is all the more reason your car is that much more impressive that you can hang, and beat a LS1 car... you've got less to work with so to speak.

Plus...cams REALLY wake up the LS1.
I picked up 41 RWHP with a milder aggressive cam. Not huge, but enough basicly. And that was no tune. Would have been 60-65 RWHP gain with tune. And right around 400 RWHP.

Ye pretty sweet car, keeping up and beating the LS1.

My buddy has a 4 banger Foxbody(light as hell) with a turbo V8 out of a GT, that thing is freaking sweeeetttttt, only need a paint job, but it sounds so good.

An exhaust, intake, and cam car could beat you. I'm talking about a car with mild mods. For example an LS1 with headers, catback, y pipe, and a lid would most likely still lose to you. Of course if you add a cam to an LS1 it'll pump out alot more ponies then your car. The cam is what restricts the LS1's the most, exhaust being second.

i know what you mean, i too sometimes turn off my boost controller to try and feel the somewhat stock feeling

not for power, i'm done with that. Just paint, and caster/camber plates. after those, everything will be done.
