The power to change things

It is obvious that our world is in chaos and people seem to be angry, depressed, down on luck and what not...just look at the headline news, there's almost nothing good to report. Murders, war, terrorism, big companies going corrupt, crimes committed against children, natural disaster everywhere.......pretty depressing huh?
If you were given the power to change one factor to make the world a better place, what would you do?

give everyone a good education for free. at least high school level. i think that by doing this you can eliviate much of the worlds problems because will be nolegable and will want to be informed and thus they can make informed decisions about their governments. other then that i feel that the world is running it's course. people do bad things, and other people disagree. it is in our nature to want power and a stong sense of nationalism. we are social, and with that comes conflict and war. i can't say i like killing people during their wedding ceremony at all. but these sorts of atrocities will happen for ever, we can only hope to educate the masses

Sounds like a good one. If it were me, I would want to educate everyone scholastically like you have suggested and also culturally, so that we all could understand each other's backgrounds and ethnic customs...and perhaps bring an end to racism...which has been and will always seem to be a big issue in general. I think if peole were educated and taught tolerance and acceptance, most of the world's problems would be solved.

Yeah, high-school level? Hardly any jobs now of days hire you with some college.
I'd say world peace, but it sounds to cheesy and something is still likely to go wrong.
I'd have to say.........cure for all diseases and other illnesses....but if it were to be a smaller wish, then a cure for AIDs

stearlise every fucked up person who then wants to have kids, like my parents. That way there would be less people with so many issues who have to struggle. And the few who use those issues to try to help others get boged down and hurt by everyone for opening up. If we could eliminate this, then there would be infinatally less assholes.

The world is better then its ever been. Its just that we know more about whats going on in it then we ever have. Not to mention the news is always about the bad things - rarely about the good. (it doesn't sell as well)
If I could change one thing to make the world better - I'd grant everyone the ability to take a stand for their actions.

You see, there was this pregnant lady who admired her friends very polite children. She inquired as to how they became so polite and her friend replied that while pregnant, she took some polite pills prescribed by her doctor. The pregnant lady talked to her doctor and got a prescription for the polite pills. Thinking that more would be better she doubled the dose, anyway 9 months went by, then 10,11 and 12 months and still no labor. The doctors decided to do a c-section and found 2 babies in there, they were both saying "You first", "No you first".

Many of you may think I am fucking crazy (or just stupid) for saying this, but a positive change that I can think of would be legalizing marijuana around the planet. I don't think that any other singular action would help more people. Getting rid of racism would be nice, but I don't think that will fix anything. People are going to then find new reasons to differentiate themselves from their fellow human beings. Religion has caused more war and strife than anything I can think of, but like racism, I don't think it will fix much of anything in the long run. As long as people have ground to differentiate themselves from one another, I feel there will be a large enough minority of the world population that will form feelings of hostility towards others, and take action through violence. But at least giving people the right to get high if they want to, and ending a large degree of government hypocrisy, will be benefitial for all. Who knows, maybe that will start the ball rolling for positive change enough to make a difference for the human race.

IMO, the world is perfect, it is how it is for a reason. people die for a reason, everything happens for a reason. Everything equals out. Disease happens to level population. If we invent a cure for every disease in the world, then there will be natural disasters or somet like that to kill excess people. Same theory goes for anything, everything has to equal out, otherwise it will just spiral out of control

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no matter how much you hope for change, no one person (I don't care how many superpowers he or she has) or one thing can cure all of humanities ills. Like JD said, don't count on religion, they caused more wars than anything. As long as there are desperate people, there will be poverty and chaos, and who will prolong this, the demented and greedy leaders!
I say bring on the stupid chips for the ones that are too late to save and distribute more polite pills!
