You can lock it permanenetly but need hubs.

You can get a Posi Lok setup but....$$$

You can try www.makeitmopar.com online for a cheaper OEM part? $$$

You can try the junkyard but how long will it work?

The vacuum motors are different from 94 on up.

not to burst your bubble or anything, but with a disconnect type axle, if the disconnect is not engaging, you'll only have two wheel drive, even if the T-case is in 4x4. all that torque that would normally go to the front wheels is going to go through the differentail, and to the intermediate(sp) shaft, and none of it will get to the wheels. the only case where this would not be true is if you have a locker or spool in the front.

as far as fixing your disconnect problem, you can make your own "posi-lock" type device relatively cheeply. depending on how fancy you want to get, you should be able to get the parts for anywhere from $10-$50.
basically you need to get a push/pull locking cable, and a way to attatch it to the shift fork inside the actuator housing.

here ya go, I searched a little and found this, it's how to convert your vacume actuator to a manual one, similar to the posilock, but the guy that did this only spend $20!!!

thanks scoutinkieth!!! thats exactly what i was lookin for. actually on dodge fronts (dana 44) axle, the right side is permantly connected to the diff and driveshaft so i would have one front tire driving. the shift fork just engauges the left side split shaft together to make it posi traction.

so is your front differentail locked? if not, even though one side is still connected to the dif by the one piece axle shaft, it won't get any power. simply put, an open differentail will send power to the tire with the least amount of resistance.

to better demonstrate this, crawl under the truck and spin the front drive shaft. with the front axle disconnect disconnected, it's like having one tire off of the ground, and with an open differentail, the power is sent to the side with the least amount of resistance, which in this case would be the intermediate shaft between the dif and disconnect.
I'll do some more looking to see if I can find some more information to explain this a little better.
