Barn Door Hinge Pins

I have a 99 Burb with barn doors. The passenger side barn door did not swing freely. It looks like the bushings are starting to deteriorate. A neighbor, who is also a body shop guy, thought we should be able to replacement them. We tried to remove the old hinge pins, but did not have any luck. We resorted to WD40 and that did help, but I have to soak with WD40 every couple of months and I don't like the "greasy" mess. Has anyone replaced these hinge pins successfully? The dealership tells me you have to replace the entire hinge, which is a huge undertaking, and not recommended. But yet, they will sell you the hinge pins and bushings separately????? Any help would be appreciated.

If there is no slop in them I would use a 'real' lubricant. Something like Tri-Flow. WD40 is the biggest fraud perpetrated on the general public since...well for a long time.

WD40 is only a water displacement chemical. It has very minimal lubricative properties, extremely poor penetrating properties and virtually no staying power. In fact, after a short time, it actually gums up.
