93 EX Power Steering?

Alright, well I just recently got my 93 EX and The person who sold it to me said the power steering doesn't work.

Well i decided to go get a new rack and pinion and new pulleys. When they gave me the pulleys they only gave me 1pulley. I think there is supposed to 2. Am I right or wrong?

1 for the serpentine Belt and 1 for the power steering? or no?

But then I was looking on KBB and it said the power steering is optional on the 93 EX? is that true?

I dont know if it was optional, but depending on the pulley(s) you ordered, it may or may not have 2 of them. Personally, if you want it, I would get it working before changing pulleys and crap. The new pulley is most likely an underdrive pulley, and once again, depending on what/where you got it from it might not have included the crank pulley.

Personal opinion here, but power steering only uses 2-3hp to begin with, so changing the pulley on it is rather pointless. Right now I would focus on getting it to work. Are you sure the fault is in the rack? Once you get the system working then you can focus on modifying it.

Well i wasnt really looking to modify it, it was just looking to get it to work. I was not sure if the car even had power steering in the first place. So I was wondering if anyone knew.

So my question is now that should there be 2 pulleys or only 1, and if there is 2 pulleys what should i ask for when i goto the auto parts store?

There are two pulleys that the serpentine belt goes over. One is attached to the power steering pump itself, and the other is usually the crankshaft pulley that drives the belt.

Now, if the seller said that the power steering doesn't work, that might mean the vehicle already has power steering on it, and you should attempt to diagnose what might be wrong with it, instead of just changing the rack. It is usually the power steering pump that fails, leaving one with manual steering.

I hope this helps somewhat.

It wasn't an option, it's a standard feature. The '92-'95 CX and VX hatchbacks were the only ones that didn't have power steering.

there should be only 1 pulley

I suggest you hold off on the parts for now until you find out what is the problem first. There is no solution for you if you don't even know what the problem is.

First of all please post a picture of your engine bay and let us know if your even have a power steering pump (the PS pump is located behind the driver side head light).
