Bought a 94 Z28 tonight

I bought a 94 Z28 A4 tonight. It's red with t-tops and 129K on the clock. It needs a new exhaust and has a fuel leak and a cracked windshield. It was only 1500. I had my dad drive it and he said it's worth it. I think the transmission might be getting ready to go though, but I might just not be use to it. It seems to shift really late. I floored it for just a second and it just sit there and reved up even though I had it in drive. I think it should have shifted.

What do you guys think?

I think its time for a rebuild... I know my old 89 took about 3 or 4 seconds for it to go into gear after you put the shifter on drive. Still worked fine...just worried me.

oh and the car. for 1500 it sounds like its going to be a work on it as you go project. But for 1500 dollars....if youve got the time then I guess its cool. Post some pics.

It was 3000 in the paper but the guy needed the money and I know my F-bodies so I talked him down. I don't have a camera or I would post pics.

Its completely drivable and runs pretty well other than that. It just worries me with the transmission. It might be cause it hasn't been driven much lately too. Alomst everything is stiff on the interior. The interior is almost perfect and the body is 8 out of 10.

check the fluid, see if it is full and what color is it? somethimes a good flush and filter and add some lucas will work. a shift kit would be good also.

Congrats on the new car! I would up paying 1400 for mine, had no cat and some rotted vaccum lines, but both of those were a quick fix. Good luck with the tranny, hopefully a flush and fill will sort out the shifting issue.

You don't need a cat anyway. I went for six months on my V6 without one and it raised my gas mileage like crazy.

sadly its a 94 which means u do need a cat or u'll fail emissions (unless u live in a state where testing is not required). if it was 1996 and up, u could run an offroad y-pipe with o2 sims and pass.

Its all a matter of knowing the right people. I've never been emissions tested since I started driving and I've got stickers for the Jeep we use to have and my old Camaro with both being visibly illegal.

Yeah id replace the trans fluid before doing anything drastic and also remove that windshield with a new one. I know I couldnt stand driving with a cracked windshield.
