Me VS My Grandma's SRT-4

You heard me right, my grandma has an SRT-4. It's a long story as to how/why she got it, but if you are curious, ask me later and I'll tell you. Don't feel like typing the entire story out at the moment.

Anyways on to me butchering my Grandmother in my new LS1.

Anyways so she comes to town every month or so to visit relatives (most of her kids live here). So I am just driving around in my new LS1 and taking in the scenery at extra-legal speeds on a low-traffic highway. All of the sudden I notice a black dot getting onto the highway a ways ahead of me. Since nobody really lives out here I was pretty sure it was my Grandma heading home or to somebody else's house (she stays with my uncle who lives near the area where I was at).

So I speed up and am approaching her at about 80MPH. I get beside her and look over with a big friendly smile on my face. She rolls down her window (realizing it was me) and waves like a 67 year old woman does... I quickly give her a glare as if she just flipped me off and started to rev at her... She just laughed and shook her head. I was waiting for her to go (knowing she wouldn't know what it meant if I honked 3 times) and she finally got the hint and stepped on it. I downshifted and floored it, leaving her in my teenage dust.

I then just head on home. However I notice her coming up somewhat quickly (probably wasn't in the right gear) behind me. I don't accelerate and she passes me going relatively quickly.

I then realized... My Grandma just gave me a ricer-flyby!:banghead:

J/k of course, sounds like fun, if she would have downshifted it would've made for a better race. When ya'll got home did you explain to her that she was suppose to be a gracious loser and stay behind you??

Call BS all you want, doesn't matter much to me. I knew people were going to want an explination as to why the hell a 67(66?68) year old woman would have an SRT-4.

Well it goes like this...

She lives in a SMALL town about an hour or so away from where I live. The town has maybe 1000 (rough guess) people in it and only 1 car dealership? So she decided she needed a new car for herself a few months ago so she went to the dealership in her town. She used to have a 95(I think) Corolla which she had had for quite some time. So I guess she was looking for something with 4 doors and quite a bit of room and good one gas. She isn't exactly the most car-smart woman in the world, and I am assuming she doesnt know the difference between an SRT-4 and a normal Neon.

I think what happened was the salesmen realized he didn't have many cars to sell her so he figured the SRT-4 was her best bet since it has everything she needed (and about 100 MORE hp than she needs).

Anyways, kind of a long story. I am willing to bet that car never goes faster than 70MPH... Such a shame but she seems to like it...

SRT-4s are manual only. Now 99% of 67 year old women drive automatics. I still say :bs:

My grandma (late 60s) drove her 5 speed CRX around for a long time, she got tired of the clutch and moved on up to an Prelude (auto).

My grandma (I think 66 years old) drove a 4 spd 72 Vette (with the more powerful engine, cant think of it off the top of my head) about 5 years ago when my uncle recked it while racing a guy in El Camino. It was totaled.

Why is everyone calling BS? Yeah very very few people in there 60's have that car but noone else was there. I can see expressing some doubt but I can't see why this is inevidabley BS. I'm sure my G-ma would give me a race in her ex cop cruiser. I'd say it's plausible that this could happen. Not saying it did but the chance that it did does exist.

the best way to avoid all this is make sure next time you have a more..........interesting...... post that you have something to back it up....it's not that hard to carry a camara around, hell i have one in my pocket when i ride...just invest in some cheapo disposable....:-)

That's my point... She DIDN'T know what she was paying for because she didn't know the difference. If the dealership would have had a base model Neon that was half the price, she probably would have gotten that one.

I'm not sure if it's me, 209, or a combination of both, but whenever he ends up posting in one of my threads, it gets closed or heads in that direction quickly... Maybe for the benefit of both of us you don't post on in my threads unless you have something constructive you'd like to add?

I wouldn't say she was "tricked". The way she explained the purchase was SHE went up to the car because she thought it was "cute". Not that I am saying car salesmen are the most honest people in the world or anything, but it seems like she wanted the car...

And like I said, her options were limited... I'm sure if there would have been an automatic available, she would have chosen that...

Also, she didn't "race" me. When I floored it I was just dickin around and she didn't accelerate (just thought I'd clear that up). She then passed me maybe going 10-15MPH over the speed limit to try and do the same...

I wish our dealers had "limited" options such as only manuals. All we get is automatic 6cyl mustangs. I think out of the 4 dealers in town there may be 6 manual cars total.
