Man, I need a clutch

I'm thinking about getting a spec stage 2 clutch for my WS6. I've already heard that the spec stage 3 has alot of clutch chatter, so i'm hoping that a stage 2 does not exhibit the same features.

Anyone else know of any other clutches that don't exhibit chatter, and can hold up to 400whp?

I currently have the Z06 clutch in my car, and it only has about 20K miles on it, but it's already giving out. I don't think i'm going to purchase another Z06 clutch for this reason, longevity.

If you don't want chatter, I would avoid Spec all together. The on/off style of clutch tends to be like that.

Textralia has GREAT clutches right now, but are quite expensive. 20K miles isn't bad on that clutch though. At least considering you race it.

I rarely ever race my car. Whose been telling you this?

Anyways, I didn't think that 20K miles was alot. In fact, some of my buddies have been having better luck with aftermarket clutches then I have. This Z06 clutch sucks ass. It just doesn't hold the power at all, even when it was new.

I've heard about textralia, but I don't wanna spend over $400 for a new clutch.

You replaced the slave with the clutch right?

No, actually it still has the original slave cylinder. Should I replace that? Do you think that might be the issue?

If so, i'll just slap on the one that McLeod assembly and the drill mod.

Oh, and i'd hope to have more races then you. Your car has been inoperable for the last 6-7 months as I recall.

Anytime you replace the clutch it isn't a bad idea to replace the slave.

You are thinking master clutch cylinder when you mention the McLeod.
The slave is on the tranny. Could very easily be why you are having slipping since the new clutch.

I know. Had a terrible sounding CRX try me yesterday. Smoked him. Although it was nothing worth talking about.

Dude atleast you get civics. It's been dead city where I am. I have fools in 80's celicas trying to race me. I'm so afraid of blowing up with them that I speed up just to get away.

l would like to know what is the dfference between racing clutch and normal clutch.. also short shifter and regular shifter??

Easy:

short throw shifter = shorter throws. With a pro 5.0, hurst, B&M, etc.. you will have shorter throws then the stock shifter, and more accurate.

With the clutches I believe they have different flywheel, disc, and pressure plates. Some of the so called puck clutches are more of a racing clutch, then a streetable clutch, and exhibit clutch chatter. They grab alot harder then contemporary disc clutches. Usually a clutch is meant to have a little bit of give, so as not to impose any drivetrain shock. I'm sure Luos can ellaborate on this.

Race clutch is just that, a clutch made for racing. Normally a solid disc instead of a sprung disc. Race clutch is VERY grabby and takes time to get used to on the street. Race clutch can handle more power but also wears faster.

yeah my stage III spec chatters like a mother...sometimes it really has a problem when i stry to slip it out on a hill too....

it grabs like a demon tho when u launch it
