Do you guys leave the parts on the trees when painting them?
and then take them off and touch up that spot that was missed?
what are your techniques?

Yeah that is pretty much what I do, except when I have to spray paint something.

i also take them off the trees and paint them. I have a craft box with lots of little compartments. i take the pieces off the trees and group them according to color and which side the go on (left or right). then i sand them down. have a go with the needle files if necessary then stick them on tooth pics and paint them in groups based on color with my airbrush. (after i cover them with primer). got the ideas from coaster's motorcycle site.

I did the same thing as COZMO for my Suzuki RGV. Let me tell you, IF you're gonna go down the same path, first find all the parts that you can that are the same color and will be glued together. Glue them together...then prime everything on the sprues, as well as the cut out pieces. Then sort them by color...and spray them one at a time..
The painting takes the longest...the assembly, well, I put the RGV together in one week. Mostly just superglue and detail painting..
