Need Help w/ Belt

Hey everyone, just had the battery light come on and think I need a new alternator, alothough I don't exactly know how to get the belt loose and off, lookin for some tips. thanks

it's a serpentine belt that runs all acessories. should be a decal under the hood with a map of the belt. put a pry bar or length of pipe under the spring loaded tensioner pulley and relive the tension by prying it away from the belt to loosen and remove the belt.
make sure you alternator is really the problem first, here's a link to both the testing and r&r procedures.

i suggest that you put a new belt on too and store the old one in the jack storage compartment in case of an emegency. Also about time to get a new radiator cap and toss the old one in there too, just in case.
i always get a kick when i see the auto parts store run a sale on alternators, either you need one or you don't regardless of the price. should be a one time replacment but maybe they want you to stock up on them.

I had it tested and it was only peaking at 35 amps, should be around 105, so I got a new alt. and belt. Got the belt off but ran out of light for today, thanks for the help like the comment about the alt. on sale, very true, lol......
