I know, I know. Another stereo question - you guys are thinking.
But I have a unique problem; I have a 1989 Licoln Towncar (signature series), it has a factory amp instaled, the JBL premium system.
Here is my problem, the stupid ape that owned this car before me tried to install a new (very crapy) CD player, but in the process he cut of the original harness! MAde the connections manualy, needless to say it's all wrong, and only the dash speakers work.
So, what I need is a wiring diagram for the stereo system, I have the Haynes manual but it's no help. I'm assuming that the original harness was conected to a bundled gray cable, with purple, green, black green, yellow, white and some "striped wire" that looks like a ground? LIke I said, this bundle has no harness, no doubt when this asshole couldn't figure it out he just taped it and left it there.
Your help would be much apraciated!

I have the very same problem, only someone re-installed the stock radio and stuck it on a used car lot, and when i went to install a new aftermarket radio i got a nice little surprise, so would anyone be able to tell me which wires are for what, or how i could possibly bring the wiring back to original spec so i can use a OEM harness. Also, i am having a problem getting power to the radio, this could be because the harness instructions are incorrect, please help!!! So much spend on audio equipment and i can't even use, and my car's interior is in pieces from trying to figure it out!!!

I had a 89 town car once, and i put a cd player in it, and in the process managed to crack the plastic around the harness. after a few weeks of trying to find a new harness, i decided to re-wire the speakers and by-pass the amp completely. When I sold the car, i did manage to get a new harness from a junkyard and wired it back together and all the speakers worked fine. I have found that the easiest thing to do is to find a harness from a junker and match the colors up, if you find either an 88 or an 89, the color code should be the same. The stripped wire that you refer to wasn't stripped by the guy who had it before you, it is a ground that is woven around the wire bundle.
