Progress on the All-trac

A lot of people have been asking me how the project was going. We are almost ready to drop the engine in. I'm waiting on a timing belt cover and injector insulators and she'll be going in. Here are some pics from tonight.
This is how we started today.. engine still on the stand. We've connected most of the vacuum hoses.. only thing we have left to do here is get the fuel rail attached.

TURBO CELICA PARKING ONLY.. hehe. Me and andy's turbo celicas. We finally moved the alltrac over to the garage so we could prep the engine bay.

Here are a couple pics of another project we've been working on while waiting for parts on the alltrac. This is my friend andy's 91 Celica GT. We put a steel head gasket on and supra injectors. We are using the stock manifold/turbo from my alltrac. She purs like a kitten :) An intercooler and piping is on the way for it.. then it'll be ready to drive around.

Lots of work to be done.
http://members.aol.com/vipmetal09/alltrac41.jpg
I thought the enormous tire gap was funny with the engine out.
http://members.aol.com/vipmetal09/alltrac42.jpg
Me in the engine bay.. C'mon, everyone has a pic standing in their engine bay, right?
http://members.aol.com/vipmetal09/alltrac45.jpg
The massive transmission + transfer case. It was a pain in the ass to mount to the engine.
http://members.aol.com/vipmetal09/alltrac46.jpg
Got the engine off the engine stand and on the hoist. Installed my RPS clutch and Fidanza Flywheel.
http://members.aol.com/vipmetal09/alltrac47.jpg
http://members.aol.com/vipmetal09/alltrac49.jpg
After some headaches and bloody knuckles and fingers, we got the engine and tranny mounted together.

http://members.aol.com/vipmetal09/alltrac52.jpg
And we called it a night after touching up a few things in the engine bay. Installed the hood latch hardware and the horn. It's getting close to that time :)

Is that a garage you have in the backyard or something?

Nice work. Are you going to run a top mount IC or FMIC?

Wow, that's a lot of progress. Why didn't you get adjustable cam covers? Tuned properly, that should gain a few ponies.

looks great. can't wait to see what intercooler set up you go with.

Don't forget to tell him to get the reinforced valve-covers too...it allows the motor to rev like crazy! ;)

Yeah, thats a garage in my back yard. I'm going with the stock top mount intercooler for now, but will be going to a front mount eventually. I had HKS 264 cams and adjustible cam gears planned but I ran out of money.. I'll have to do that later.

Yeah, I love the Toyo Celica...guess tires aren't all they make
Looks like you've been keeping busy. Nice work.

Wow, that takes alot of dedication. I'm sure alot of mechanics wouldn't even wanna attempt to put that engine back together. Remembering where all the bolts and screws go has got to be a pain in the ass, even with a digital camera.
Hopefully later on you'll get some rims and a paint job. I'm curious as to how much power the car will put out.

nice job on all of it, i can only imagine how much work it was from the original pictures you posted with the anti freeze in the cylinders and whatnot. hopefully everything will go pretty smoothly for you.

I'd love to do a project like that but as previously mentioned would be tricky and beyond my know how if I were to do it alone. Give us some numbers on what your expecting out of this.

^stock 3sgte is about 200 hp, but i dont think he is going stock, and big numbers with the stock turbo is hard, im not sure if he has the stock turbo or not, he's gonna need to dyno tune with some sort of fuel and igition control to see some big gains. But, I'll let him tell you about the legendary all-trac/gt-4 :p

Right now i'm running a greddy td06 20g turbo. It's good for 400+hp. I'm planning on going bigger eventually.

Definitely NOT.. lol. No decals or anything going on this car.. it's going sleeper style. I want it to look nice and clean.

It was like that when I bought it. Aparently the manifold cracked and someone did a piss poor job of welding it.. but I can't complain for $300 for the whole Greddy turbo kit.

Yep.. tubular exhaust manifold, 20g turbo, 3" downpipe, 47mm external wastegate. It's all in good shape.

Is it just me, or does that engine appear to be in there at an angle. As in the block isn't perpendicular with the ground?

must be the camera angle...?

The 3S-GTE engine sits slanted. It is at more of an angle in the pic though because I only have the two side engine mounts bolted up... but yeah it does sit at an angle normally.
