Hello all, I have been thinking of a project that may help some people out. Have you ever been working and found that you lost the instruction sheet somewhere like maybe behind your workbench? Well I have some extra spare time and with some help from you ether by sending in your old instruction sheets by mail or e-mail me (polizei@badpolizei.com), we can all work together to build a resource center that anyone could go to and check a copy of the instruction sheet. Though there may be many of these I think that we need one to be a sticky.

This is a great idea. I've always thought that there was a site for this, but have yet to come across one.

Good idea. In case you didn't know, Hobby Search http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/plamo/ has tons of scanned instruction sheets.

They don't have everything though. The instruction sheets they have are mostly for Japanese kits. Also, they tend to only show the sheets of kits that they have in stock.

Sadly, my instruction are usually in very bad shape when I have done with the model, but this is a great idea. I was thinking about the same thing.

We could do them in pdf file and I can host them (I have a lot of space and bandwidth.) I can give you 1 000mb for that if you need it. Just PM me if you need help.

Yes, lets make a PDF on youre site. For each manafacturer all instructions we cant find and the emailadress of the owner. If someone needs it, just email the owner.

I can understand: I usually place my instruction like a pad-cover :) so cut, paint, drik coffe, eat pizzas, drink beers and chianti (whish is worst than 2 part plymer to leave from paper :) ) but it's even fun: yes upload your kind used "customized" instructions. And obviously new one.
Well I like this project> I 'll do my contribution with approx 150 sheets, mostly lancias and ferraris (and some good skylines) and may be 50 "customized" sheets, with cut, eat, drink and paint performances :) I simply love it!
Eric, just say us when the service would be still active on scalewiki or on your site and we'll upload our craps :) J/K ;)

I don't want to "steal" the idea of Samurai75007. I just want to offer space and help. I have the space, I have the time, I have web site already setup for that.

I can make a special place for it once I have few of them. If Samurai75007 think it's a good idea, just PM me to see what we can work together.

that's the thing; i'm not sure it's not as simple as that (stating ownership)
i recall a few months back, record companies were trying to put a stop to people posting lyrics on the 'net. Admittedly, this isn't quite the same thing but i'm pretty sure that posting a COMPLETE copy of something like a set of instructions for something other than personal use could be taken as infringment (do publishing laws apply for instructions?)

in anycase, i was just suggesting that some investigation might be in order as part of the background preparations.

Well I have the day off today so I may spend my time calling and righting some E-mails then to find out what I may need to do. I have had some contact with one company to get some sheets for discontinued models for this product but my lack of knowledge to speak some Asian languages will hinder progress a bit.

But why scan all the instructions? Its a lot of work! Just make a list with owner, emailadress and the instructions he owns. If some needs a instruction, he searches the alfabetacly list of intructions, looks at the email adress, contacts the owner and than the owner van scan the instructions sheet.

It's not the same thing. RIAA are dumb and in need of cash. They try to piss as much people as they can and then think we will be apply to pay $20 for a cd. Pay & smile even if we piss you off.

Anyway, the same thing apply to box art of the models, no one have problem posting boxart and it's copyright. Hobby Search don't seem to have problem posting instruction sheets. So unless you erase the name of the maker, put your name on it and sell it, you will be fine. No one is making money with that.

Because we want something useful. Knowing how have a sheet isn't useful. If it's too much work today for you to scan the instruction, it will be too much work when someone will need it. And a collection of email address on the web is the worst idea you can make to get spamming.

Scanning as Jpg or pdf is the best idea.
