Oil pressure

When I start up the car there is a fairly loud tick that then goes away after a second. But then the oil pressure will drop after about 10 mins. of driving. Then at a stop light the pressure will drop to right before the red line. These problems make me believe that it is the oil pump. But someone told me it may be some sort of bearing crank maybe????? PLEASE someone help, this GM has been nothing but problems.

thanks

Hello

What year is your car and how many miles on it? What oil are you using (weight)? How long have you owned the car?

When I got my 95 Windstar with 177,000+ miles on it, I heard a ticking sound on start up. I had to put headgaskets in and as long I had the engine most the way apart I thought I may as well stick a set of rod bearings in. Sure enough, the bearing inserts were all showing copper (copper= not good, worn bearings). Now I don't have any noise on startup.

You might want to try 10w30 oil if you're running 5w30. If it is a rod, the engine might not have very many miles left.

Regards

Dan
