I have a 2001 dodge grand caravan that the mil keeps coming on. I have had the code cleared 2 times and it comes back but not right away. The last time i had it erased the service man told me to put a new gas cap on it and I did but it came back on after about 3-4 weeks. I do not remember what the code was but it was the evap system i think it was a small leak. LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE KNOWS WHATS GOING ON MY WIFE IS GETTING MAD WITH THE MIL ON!!!!!!

Gotta have the error code number to pin it down any further.

There's two ways to get the code: >> (apply to a 2001?) Cycle your ignition switch from off to on (not start) three times leaving it on the third time. Watching the MIL light, count the sequence of flashes. A code 23 would be flash, flash, pause, flash, flash, flash. >> Second way is to go to Autozone or a similar business and have them download the codes with a scanner. They can tell you exactly what the codes mean and...it's FREE. Worst way is to go to a dealer and pay for it.

I read somewhere on this forum that the MIL light could come on if you have the gas cap off with the engine running. I hope the love of your life is refueling with the engine off.

I dont see P1684..other codes look like maybe a bad hose or leak detedtion pump.
