check engine HELP!

I have a civic, which I took the heatshield off of the stock headers to clean. when I put it back on I forgot to reconnect the O2 sensor to the clip and I started the engine and the CHECK ENGINE light came on. I imediately remembered what I did wrong and turned the car off and reconnected. I started again and it still came on. I even left it off for quite some time but it stays on. What do I need to do, does a profesional have to reset it or something?

I reset it by taking out the fuse but I just want to make sure that the light was supposed to stay on even though the problem was solved. I mean when I reattched the O2 should thelight have gone out?

Nope, your okay. Most of the time, the light doesn't go off once you fix the problem until you reset the ECU, of which you did. (remove the radio backup fuse or disconnect your battery for 30 seconds). Your fine, nothings wrong with your car.
