As many of you might know I am a member of the "tear your perfectly working car apart club" and I just got everything buttoned up, well kind of, and took her out for a spin. No hood and no front bumper, but it looks bad ass with the front mount sticking out and the new black rims. It ran like shit to be honest, I'm hoping its because it needs to be tuned further, but in neutral it wouldn't rev past 3k, then I leaned it out a little and it reved until the next rev setting on the AFC and after a few minutes it reved to 6k but slow. Anyway back to the story. I was driving it trying to mess with the AFC because it was super sluggish and didn't have any throttle response ect. and the turbo was making a weird noise almost like a mix between a turbo spooling and a s/c whine(any ideas what that is?) I got about a mile away and all the sudden it just died, no noises like anything bent/broke, just died. When I went to turn it over again it sounded like there was no compression. Timing was dead on, and it ran fine before. I got to looking closer and I noticed the intake cam gear worked its was loose, not very loose but I think it was enough so the cam sensor couldn't get a signal anymore and thats why it stopped.
Does anyone have any idea what the funny noise might be?
Should I be able to tune out all the sluggishness? I know it must be running really rich because I could make 8psi revving to 4k in neutral and that shouldn't happen.
If you have no idea what you just read I understand because I kind of just typed everything that I was thinking at once so I will be more than happy to elaborate on anything.

also the car would want to stall out if I took my foot off of the gas, is that because of running rich to?

whine= bad gasket turbo to manifold, bad gasket manifold to head, manfiold isn't tight enough to the head, or to the turbo, make sure things are tight, that is what happend to my car.

OH, and of course, big big big boost leak, or lots of small boost leaks. DO a boost leak test first =P

it might be the manifold to the head since I didnt have a torque wrench/swivle sockets so I had to use a gear wrench and I dont think I got it very tight and there is probably a boost leak also so I will try and get that buttoned up tomorrow. then I just need to get my exhaust leaks fixed and I'm good to go, well after a tune to

My car does that after I disconnect the battery for any amount of time. Takes a while for it to return to normal.

you know I was kind of thinking that considering my car has been sitting without a battery for a month now.
