Replacing Rear Speakers in 95-98

How can I replace the rear extended cab speakers on my truck. It looks like it might require me to take the whole back plastic piece. Is there a trick to this or a suggestion on how to do it or where to start.

I have service manual and I’m pretty sure you have to remove the panels. I think that’s the only choice.

I replaced mine. Had to take the rear side panels, rear back panel, and part of the top panel off. ('96 GMC)

It's kind of like a jigsaw puzzle putting it back together again. Make a mental note of exactly how they ame off.

The rear speakers are 6x9 set into the C post. I'd suggest replacing with the same size, using some kind of rubber cushion when re-installing, or maybe RTV all along the edges. Otherwise they're prone to rattle.

I'm looking to replace my speakers too. I have a '92 though. I believe its pretty mucht the same interior though, but I know I have 4x6s. What holds the plastic parts on exactly? Any hidden clips that could easily break off? I've already taken the door panels off which seemed quite easy but I think the other parts might be harder.
Also, if you could give me some advice.. I'm looking for a sub box for a regular cab. I'm hoping to get a 10 inch sub on either side, along with an 800 watt amp behind the console or under the seat. I was wondering what I should do with the sub. box situation though. Would I be better off building one of my own?

Im pretty sure they are... they didnt change much.

I could've swarn they are 4x6's up through 99. If you haven't gotten speakers yet, look at the audiobahn. I was just looking for new speakers for my truck and they have a 93db sensitivity @ $35 for a pair.. (a normal speaker has 90.. so this speaker produces the same sound as a 90db speaker with the volume half as high..)
Tell me how you removed the panels if you get a chance.. The fronts are cake but I'm not too sure about the back. I don't want to break anything.. Thanks!

I couldnt remove mine either without worrying about breaking something so I just decided I would wait to see what someone had to say. I know its going to require taking off the seatbelt mounts with a torx. Also its all one whole puzzle. It should be intersesting. And thanks for that speaker tip i will look into that.
