92 PA starting difficulty ?

I,m trying to identify a problem with starting: The starter spins over great, but engine =no catch until just as I,m about to give up. It used to do it on the first try ( letting it turn over for about 5 seconds), then it went to the next try, and now it sometimes takes 3 or 4 attempts before it finally kind of sputters to life. It has slowly gotten worse as time goes on. Once started, the car runs great and is a pleasure to drive. The engine doesn't have a distributor, just a 3 coil pack - each firing 2 cylinders. Any advice will be greatly appreciated- I like the car almost as much as the '54 Special 2dr/ht I had at 17...

Plugs, wires and fuel filter in known good condition? also check for signs of raw fuel in the hose to the fuel press. reg.

Maxwedge: Thanks for you help again on this one. I guess I'll have to get it into a shop for some diagnostics. I did read all of the previous posts regarding starting problems, and thought things pointed to the coil(s)... It acts like an old Ford when the coil is bad. Bye the way, my daughter's '95 Century starter problem has been fixed, and we both thank you. I checked in on the Auto-Zone site, and was able to get the job done much easier. Very best regards, FB

Delayed starting could be a number of things so you definatley want to start with some basics. Heck mine even gets fussy around oil change time whne the pressure a little lower then normal.
