This happened last night, I had just gotten off duty and decided to take the R1 out. It had been awhile since I had ridden it so naturally I had to polish it up and let it run awhile. It looks awesome in the sunlight...:iceslolan....anyways moving on.
It was about 9 o'clock PM last night when I was riding the local highway. I was having fun riding with some Gixxer 600s but they didn't have the ponies to keep up. Good guys, good bikes, bad matchup. After an hour or so I saw C5 Vette coming on the on ramp. Even with my Yoshimura exhaust whirring in my ears I heard that rumbling black beast. It sounded like it had some obvious header/exhaust work done. I looked over at the guy and gave him a thumbs up and to my suprise and joy, he slams the gas. That thing hauled ass!! I didn't hear a blow off valve or a supercharger so I'm thinking he's all n/a. But with that deafening exhaust I couldn't really tell all that well.
So I ride up next to him and give him the thumbs up again and he gives the peace sign and we just cruise next to each other for awhile. Then out of nowhere a civic blows by in the far lane. Obviously trying to get some attention. I look over and the Vette dude (real name reese)...was looking at the civic and was pretty intrigued so he took chase and I was doing the same.
After a minute or so of going about 100mph we catch up to the civic, I couldn't tell how old he was or whatever because the tint was so dark but meh, he had a respectable car. It was clean and had nothing overdone, the way a civic should be in it's sleek black glory.
So we line up, everyone one knows what's going to happen. Reese looks over and gives me a nod, I give him a "Rock on" sign. Reese looks over at the civic and he must've seen some sign that he wanted to run.
One honk....easy on the throttle...stay even at about 70MPH
Two honks...
Third Honk...Go baby Go!
The Vette jumped out to the lead on the start, once again showing it's torque and power. And the civic was about half a fender back.
Rev it up to 11k....shift...I was pulling hard on both of them, i didn't really expect it too be much of a match up...not to sound smug...
I look back and the civic obviously had pulled on the vette a little bit...they were now dead even...I'm still on full throttle about a bus and a half ahead and layed off...looked down at the speedo...145MPH...sweet..
As I'm slowing down i hear the cars gaining on me...the civic blew by first!! I hear the turbo whirring as it comes by and the vette was about a car and a half back trying with all it's might...I was intrigued by this and wanted to talk to the dude in the civic and vette but we just gave each other some "thumbs up" and revs and headed our respective ways.....what an awesome race...and it showed what an import, if done right, can do...I still love those vettes though...:icon16:

Good run. I actually beat my buddies old Honda Hurricane in my current car from a roll. I think the newer bikes would snuff me though.

Nice kills. Those GSXR 600's aren't slow.
