Replace clutch

This may have been touched on, but is the clutch on the Ecotech (2002) Grand Am worth replacing myself, or is it a pain and worth the cost of getting a mechanic? Also, this is my first stick, do I replace the tranny fluid as often as an automatic. Its got almost 60K miles on it, so I figure this stuff is coming soon.

I have 137,000 miles on my 4 cylinder 5 speed s10, still has the orig clutch & trans fluid in it. Clutch life depends on how you drive, I haven't been real nice to mine, but its held up pretty good. Don't change the clutch until it needs it. Changing the tranny fluid is a good thing to do, check your manual to see what maintence schedule it calls for, but im guessing your good until 100k.

Never had to change a clutch in a grand am, but I wouldn't think it would be fun, not sure what the labor would be, if it were me and the labor was less then $300 i'd have it done (and im a do it your selfer). Maybe someone has done one and tell you the easy way to do it, the reason i'd pay to have it done is so I don't have to figure out the easy way myself. just my :2cents:
