I am not sure I understand. Do you have remote start? Or are you saying you can't unlock your door with a key, only the keyless entry?

do not have remote start, remote door locks. engine will not start unless remote for door lock is used, acc switch will work-radio, windows ect but the engine will not turn over unless the remote for door locks is engaged?

Is it an aftermarket keyless entry? Some of them come with a basic kind of starter disable that will not allow the vehicle to start unless the remote is used to unlock the doors.

it is a factory installed remote for door locks, it used to work fine and I never used the remote (do not like the loud churp) my wife used the remote to lock the doors,
a few months ago it would not start & a local mechanic sugested trying the remote and then start and that worked. When you stop enging it will restart within about 3 or 4 min. without using the remote.
thanks

I don't know. If it is a stock keyless entry there should be a way to disable the chirp so atleast you won't have to put up with that. The only thing is most stock keyless entry systems use a short beep of the horn not a chirp. A chirp is a popular characteristic of aftermarket alarms. Sorry I couldn't help you.

I had this exact same problem and took my car to a FORD dealership. Apparently there is a button below your steering wheel (near the hood release) that controls the mode of your alarm. If you have it in "valet" mode, you will need the remote to start the engine. However, if that mode is turned off your car should start just fine, without the remote. Play with the button, see what works. I hope this helps. I know the problem, and it was annoying!

If that's the case you have the Ford ad on keyless entry unit from CodeAlarm. It's not an OEM part.
