Hi, Guess this car forum isn't doing so great (prolly cuz it's right beside the Supra forum.) and I figured I'd break the ice and be the first to post. In any case I've gained a lot of respect for this car recently. I've seen videos of it and have played with it in GT3. It's so fun to monster kill with it (take on a car with twice the horsepower and beat it because your car handles better). That and I love watching these cars drift (dorifto!). :D check out www.club4ag.com for more info on these cars. Also I've gotten into Initial D. While I can't say that it is my favorite car (Lancer Evo 5, then Silvia S15), it certainly is an underrated one that I enjoy. Keep on drifting...

I wish I know how to drift, my hachi need a LSD!@!!!@@
All I can do now is uncontrol slide!!!WWEEEE!!!:D
Wet would be better to start the drift, but to hold it...hum, better ask some experts
If the forum name is changed to AE86, I'm sure we'll have more threads than the supra forum!!

HOHOHO! I'm an Initial D fan. I think this thread is dead because people don't know Trueno's are named Sprinters.
What's the stock engine hp on these suckers?

130 hp? i thought it was 130 ps. dont ask me convert it cos i dunno how :o
its easier to drift in the wet, but at high speeds, you're gona kill yourself. if u want to learn to drift, do it in the wet, at slow speeds til u get the hang of it and try on dry surfaces at higher speeds.
i dont really follow Initial D, i follow the 'real' drift scene in japan :)

130ps? I don't think so....eh, whatever, the numbers doesn't matter, the 4AG doesn't make a lot of power, that's all I know, LOL:D
And I'm a gripper~ so I don't drift, I slide around for fun, but I'm not into it~

depending on your skillage, wet or dry would work for a drift. its all skill.

for anyone interested .. and related to the above posts 1ps = 0.7355kW almost the same as 1hp which is 0.7457kW. Drift is possible in the wet with a lock diff, but almost impossible in the dry due to only spinning 1 wheel most of the time, the only way to really get a decent drift out of a corner in the dry is to really through ur car into the corner at high speeds, thus not relying on power to brake traction, rather momentum forces the entire rear to slide. However in the wet a well controlled, and long clean drifting is possible with a lock diff.
Hope this helped and always drive safe.

Yeah, you don't need much HP to drift at all, it's deffinetly easier to drift when it's wet, but that is common sense. The sprinter has around 130 HP wich is not bad for the size and weight, wich is under 2000 pounds.

130 is JDM at the flywheel. It's 112 on the USDM corolla GTS, more or less.

In the wet, over-steer becoes an issue if you are going two fast, but like in the snow, a slower drift works out real good if you have the corner all worked out.
Try drifting up-hill, (not too steep though or you'll slow down too quickly) up-hill helps in the fact that you don't spin out as fast. (it is safer for newbies like us)
By the way, you don't need LSD (limited Slip Differential) to drift, I'm getting the hang of my open dif in my 1972 AMC HORNET 4-door. :smokin:
P.S. Initial-D kicks arse!
