How do you take the back seats off?

I managed to take the bottom part out and from the looks of it you need to take out those plastic interior panels to get the top part out. Is it true? If not it's not really worth the trouble.

No, there is a small black plastic clip on the rod that the seat folds on that goes through the side panel. it is a C clip, just push it off with a flat screwdriver, and then you can move the seat about 1/2" closer to the side panel. After you move the seat over, the center (between the 2 halves) will come off of its suppor, and you just lift it out.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Oh really? Yeah I took those clips off but nothing happened so I figured it was just to cover the exposed bar. Lemme go try your method now...

Ok yeah it took like 10 seconds to do. Thanks for the info.
It seemed pretty damn light. How much do you think the back seat weighs?

No Prob. Probably only weighs like 8lbs for the bottom and about 10 for the 2 top pieces including rear carpet, it wasnt very heavy.

Since you seem to know a lot of stuff. What is all that shit under there? There is a plate with 3 screws, I assume it is either the full pump under there, or something to do with the fuel pump. And what is the rest of that junk? The large metal pipe goes to the gas tank I think.

I will have to consult my magic book.. I have been taking mine apart for the last couple weeks, thats why I know how it all comes apart and goes together. I believe the circle thing in the middle goes to the fuel pump, the thing on the driver side is the fuel filler pipe. I am unsure what the long metal cover that goes across the back of where the seat was is covering.
I have a 1991 Honda Civic Service Manual.. I reccomend this to anyone, as it is VERY descriptive and VERY easy to understand, and tells you how to take apart and put together everything in the entire car, as well as where every screw/etc to do it is... Don't confuse this book with the chiltons or hayes repair manuals, this is a blue book with no pictures on the cover, about 2.5" thick and came from a Honda Dealer. I will try to scan the cover so you can see what it looks like.

Your talking about Helms manual?
I was thinking of getting one but I'm putting it off until I have to do something super technical where I need to know where all that is.

I don't think its a helms manual..
It is light blue, says "1991 Service Manual" diagonal across the front cover, with "CIVIC" all the way across diagonally. In the bottom right corner of the cover it says "FIRST EDITION". On the binding it says "HONDA 1991 CIVIC Service Manual"
On the back, it says...
1991 Civic 3/4 DR SERVICE MANUAL
Published by Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Printed in U.S.A.
C 1990 Honda Motor Co.
Part Number 61SH303
Hopefully, you may find it using the part number. It is a very nice book.
Just got back from looking it up... It is a helms manual..
http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2.asp?Style=&Sku=61SH303&itemtype=N&mscsid=EQ1FKMJA32P49HXPUN96LPHJX8QKF7WB
Its $62.00

wow... old thread. Couldn't believe FourthGenHatch was asking a question like this LOL.
As far as the button on the top of the rear seat, it should just screw on/off of a rod inside the seat that goes to the locking mechanism... Try checking that on the other side of the car (where you still have a knob).

Helms manuals can be downloaded in PDF there. There pretty good scans and its complete with wireing diagrams. If your going to be doing alot of serious work I would recomend buying the accual book though.

actually the metal plate in the centre with the plug in it goes to the gas guage sending unit, not the fuel pump (I know, I changed my gas tank a few years ago, the fuel pump is on the driverside back of the tank and you can't get to it while the tank is in the car.)
