Here's my situation. I have a 95 Blazer that ran out of gas. Stupid I know. But anyways, I put gas in it and can't get it to start for last 2 days. I can't hear the fuel pump working when I turn the key on. My question is, is there a way that I can check and make sure that it is the fuel pump that is bad without buying a new one and taking everything apart?

Just go ahead and replace it anyways...even if it isnt the problem you probably should unless youve done it recently. Theyre cheap.

You can do a fuel pressure test, there's a schrader valve at the back of the intake for connecting the fuel pressure gauge. It looks kind of like a large tire valve. You should have around 60psi.

check fuses and relays first before you do anything

cheap? Man I am glad you have a few hundred that you can just throw to the wind. Yes, test at the test port, even you don't have a guage just push the pin in and see if there is any pressure and release it. then prime the pump by turning the key a few times and see if any pressure was built up.

Wow, I really appreciate all the advice. I will check the pressure today. We tried to check the fuses and relays and got a little confused as to which one controls which. There is no box under the hood like some other blazers that has fuses but there is three little boxes by the wiper cowl. Is that where I should be looking?

I just went through this. And I have a 95 Blazer LS 4x4. ($140cdn for pump and filter)
The 95 Blazer has a Fuel Pump Test Wire hanging on the Driver side Wheel Well inside the engine compartment. Get a wire, put a 10amp fuse between it and the pump test lead. Hook it up to the positive on your battery, no gas smell, or no hearing the pump go, Pump Gone.
You can check you coil connection too, make sure it's not too mucked up,sand it a bit, replace it, throw some fuel in through the air intake , the engine should fire up and die as soon as the fuel is gone. (sounds barbaric, but it works)
Relays are in your glove box compartment if you want to check those.
Did all this , bought a pump, went to Nexcar, paid them .99cents a min, took them 1hr and a half (book quotes up to 4hrs for this procedure, if you can do it yourselfor have the time , do it), and had a running truck. They wanted to charge me $450 for the Pump and Sending unit...mmm.. no... anywho... yeah.

Goodluck, I love my '95!

I'm talking about the fuel filter...its not a bad idea to replace it if in the time that youve owned to truck...u havent changed it...fuel filters are cheap

Everyone misunderstood because you responded to a post about a fuel pump, with "Just go ahead and replace it anyways...even if it isnt the problem you probably should unless youve done it recently. Theyre cheap." I'm sure that you can see how that could be misleading.

Ahh...good call...I'm the worst reader in the world...it took me 3-4 minutes to read what u wrote...haha...yes...fuel pumps are much more...but still....if u havent replaced the fuel FILTER since uve owned it...it might not be a bad idea.
