Guys, How hard it it to change the ball joints on a '95 Z71? I hate the thought of paying serious money to get them replaced. I have the ability to do it myself, I just don't want to get in over my head. Pointers, instructions? what should I look for? What is the process? Thanks Jason K.

Seperate the steering knuckle from the upper and lower ctrl arms and then drill out the rivets (if they are still the factory ball joints) bolt the new ones in. You will want to have the truck aligned after replacing the ball joints though.

Yes they are the originals. I sorta thought the grinding the rivets might be quicker. I just don't want to start it, and then figure it's too much for me. The truck is my daily driver.

the top ones are not that bad....the bottom ones are some work. You'll need to get the alingment checked anyway. ON my 92 I had the two bottom ball joints replaced and the idler arrm swapped out and I paid for the parts, plus alignment was around $300. So it can get expensive.

...dont forget you need a 35 or 36mm socket to get the nut off the half shaft...you got to pull that in order to get the bottom ball joint...
