kawasaki 636 exhaust

has anyone heard any of the aftermarket exhaust on 2005-2006 kawasaki 636? i was looking at d&d and two brothers but i havent heard any of them....i was looking for somethin with kind of a growl somethin kinda loud but not annoying ya know?? let me know if you have any suggestions or have heard anything

The D&D is loud to a degree that after a while it will be annoying in my opinion. Two Brothers is a good exhaust system with a nice sound thats not too over the top. Personally, I like the sound of Yoshimura best, but it is a bit quieter than the rest and some people prefer a little louder. I prefer a more quiet yet tuned sound. I would check some various sites and see if you cant get an audio clip...thats how I eventually picked mine and I am happy with the choice thus far.

they seem to be quiet down low so you can avoid attention when you need to and bark nicely when you hit the gas. does power have any input here or are you just after sound?

There is very little to be gained in terms of power from exhaust systems on modern stock bikes, especially without additional tuning and the accompaniment of either a jet kit or PC. In most cases it's just a matter of what you think sounds best. I use an M4 titanium system and it sounds pretty good, but I'm not a huge fan of the I4 sound to begin with. It's one of the louder systems I've heard though. I can tell you the D&D I heard over the weekend was not only obnoxiously loud, it sounded like garbage, too, so I would look elsewhere.

IMO the akrapovic is the best out of those i've heard. a kid i ride with has a Yoshimura on his 05 636 and i like the way that pipe sounds as well. i have a vid of the 2 bro's on my comp and it's pretty loud, mostly cuz of the dual canister design. i'm not big on loud pipes so again i'd say to go with the akrapovic with the optional sound baffler. akra's web page says you gain like 3-4 hp with their slip on as well.

And frankly I think the high-end slip-ons do add power, not your typical D&D however. But even with add on power from slip on, most average riders wouldn't notice much difference. And most of them weigh less than the stock can.

i was disappointed with my akropovic slip on. i used to have a gsxr with a yoshi and loved it, with the honda i went for th akropovic because it has no markings so i could possibly get away with it on the street easier than a fully marked up yoshi. (our laws are getting tighter on noise pollution).

its not too loud but kinda sounds shit at full revs.

as for the debate on power gains, i got it dyno'd before fitment and after fitment. as in right before and bolt the can on while its on the dyno. absolutely bugger all increase through the range until peak and gained 5hp. woo bloody hoo. it did smooth things out abit but nothing really changed until an airfilter went in and low end power gained slightly more.

power commander would do more but i chose the budget option of new sprockets

Hey mate, how was the torque on 750? Any good or usable on the streets? I know it doesn't compare to 954. But 600s lack torque whatsoever without tap dancing gears.

i actually prefer the 750. around town it was very easy to use and no scares. when you got above 6k-7k then she was a demon possessed.

the 954 is the same but can get to higher speeds much quicker.i can't seem to get the full throttle on it. my wrist doesn't go around that far. maybe try a quicker throttle.
still there is 7years between them. when the 96 gsxr750t came out it was quicker and had more power than the fireblade of the time. i'd like to try the '06 750 as it has as much hp as my 3yr old 954 to see how the difference is now:evillol:

Reason I ask because I am looking into 00-03 750s.

Anyway, 06 is going to be best gixxer so far. 04-05 gix 600/750 weren't that big of a step from 00-01s. But this 750 with slipper and gear indicator (for the unattentive like myself), is going to be great. Although, I did notice that extra torque of 750s are being pushed into upper revs every new models, like the new 600s, so it's going to be a little more peaky than the 00-03 version.

What you think about new Daytona 675? If it's reliable, I think it'll have good torque for the street with more than modest top ends.

call me petty but i'll never buy a daytona. the one model i rode didn't have adjustable mirrors. great view of my ankles. if they can't be bothered with looking after the tall or short then i can't be bothered with them.


nup the suzuki 750 is looking the goods this year.

They might've addressed that issue, lots of new stuff, different bike altogether since they switched over to triple. On the State side, I hear they were all booked, no new deposits until the bike rolls into street.
