Allright, bought my Rubicon in January of 05, because I wanted the six speed. It has turned out to be nothin but garbage(in my opinion). I have gotten more in to sand and rocks now, so i am wanting to do a swap for an auto. Not the 42rle though. I am thinking a 350, 400, or maybe a 5-45rfe. 350 would be my preferance as I have a spare or two layin around. Does anyone have info or tid bits for me? Thanks

What is the problem with the six-speed that you think it is garbage?
What engine do you have?
If you only want a 3-speed auto (vs a 4-speed) you may have a easier time putting in a
3-speed auto from an older model Wrangler. Up until about 2003 or so, the Wrangler came with a
3-speed torqueflite (904 or 727 i'm not quite sure) those are strong enough to take any abuse that
you can put to it. One problem you may encounter, in 2003 most of the Jeep computers were changed
to the next Gen and a lot of the sensor setups are different. You may have some speed sensor issues
to deal with no matter what transmission you put in it. You may need to trade in your Rubicon and
get an older Wrangler with the trans that you want. Then you will have extra money to do mods.
It sounds like you didn't know what you wanted to start with and now are unhappy with the choice you made.
That always sucks, hope you can find something that you like better.

I have a couple of spare TH350's layin around, it's short, it's strong, and i will eventually be throwin a SBC in so I preffer to stay with it. As for the Honsel six speed, it's a car transmision stuck in a jeep.
