Rodeo Sport V-6 Engine Blows

A buddy had his 2001 Rodeo Sport Amigo V-6 blow. I don't know the specifics, but have been told the water pump cut loose and then the timing belt was gone. I assume the belt replacement interval was 75K or 100K and wondered if anyone else had a similar experience. Does anyone have knowledge of Isuzu's warranty and whether they have been helping with engines that blow well in advance of the belt change interval or close to warranty running out?

This is the first time I've ever read something like this.

If your buddy is the first owner then I think at least the water pump part would be covered.

There have been many posts here about owners going 150-180k with no problems on their timing belts.

Slipping and breaking are very very rare on Isuzu's (if he wheels it hard or tows a lot then it is more likly to ocurr).

bit of info had a 96 trooper w/ 3.2 just for the hell of it I remove the timing bet spun it over with the starter for about a minute no problem
if the water pump broke it more then likely just needs a pump and belt
the trick is going to get the timing set right valve coverss have to come off on this or you will not get it right

Yeap, same here, my waterpump went out just a month ago, and it threw the timing off by a tooth. Had all of it replaced, runs like a champ, no damage, just new belt, pump, and tensioner.

by the way the water pump is considered to be a powertrain component if your friend is original owner it is covered 10 yr 120,000 milesif your friend is not the original owner it is cover for 5 yr's or 60,000 miles whichever occurs first

I spoke to a friend who's the Service Manager for an Isuzu/Chevy dealer. He tells me these V-6 engines, particularly after 60K, use oil. Sometimes 1 qt in 1000 miles, and people who ignore the advice to check the oil level are burning out the engines. They get oil starved and the #1 rod bearing blows-the fix being a replacement engine. This was purchased by my pal Used, so no warranty help is coming. I will probably buy it from him and have a used engine put in it.
