I have a 96 gls that has ran great since bought in 97. It has 117, 000 miles on it and i recently changed the started for a trip to mexico, (6000 toatal miles.) When I changed the starter, one of the connections would not fit, so I had to make it fit by cutting the connector housing to make it attach to the new starter. It ran fine, but one day when it was very humid out, it stalled and then wouldnt start. I tried it for a minute, and it fired up. Soon aftrer, whenever it rains, it fails to start on the first try, but starts after a few tries. I feel the problem could be the connector is getting wet, but I have checked it and it seems fine. Could it be the ignition coil? I need help on this problem. If it is the coil, do I need to replace it, and how much will it cost, and can I do it myself? Feel free to email me.
