OK, I've had my 95 4runner since october, I've recently replaced the exhaust system. For the last two months the coolant has been disappering I refill every week there is no leak and the guys at Pep Boys couldn't diagnose the problem in addition to this as of late it takes several cranks to start sometimes it eventually does if I give it enough gas sometimes it doesn't at all and sometimes there is no problem, I've noticed too that it is getting considerably more sluggish making a louder idling noise than previously. HELP ME PLEASE !!!!! I am a substitute teacher (read broke) and I can't keeping pouring money into the beast:frown: any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated.

How much coolant are you losing? Is your motor running hot? Do you have coolant in the oil? Do you have large plumes of white smoke coming out of your tailpipe? You could have a heater core leaking down the fire wall under the carpet. Pull up the carpet and see where the water is coming from. Does it smell like coolant? Check your brake and clutch fluid levels to make sure they are not leaking under carpet (although unlikely due to the amount of moisture you stated above). If the heater core is leaking, you can bypass it until a time it can be repaired. Beaware that if you bypass the heater core, you will have no heat. If you are mechanically inclined, have a repair manual, and can follow the directions listed in the manual, you should be able to make the repairs yourself at a substantial savings. On the pick-up forum on this site there are factory service manuals available if you want to look to get an idea of what maybe involved in checking a cooling system and replacing components.
Pressure test the cooling system to find the leak. Autozone may have the tool necessary to do this for rent.
I had the top seam on my radiator separate and leak coolant. It was difficult to locate at first because my truck left no puddles. The leaking coolant would burn off while I was driving.

You most likely have a leak in your REAR heater system that is between the front seats. Given that you are getting moisture on you carpet.
That heater can be bypassed in the engine compartment for the price of a 6 inch hose.
There are two steel lines that run from the top of the firewall back to the rear heater core. the bypass is done at the top of the firewall where those lines connect to the cooling system.
In this way you will STILL have the main heater to keep you warm and the window defoggeed.
Good luck
