Vmax Street & Performance Manifold Spacer? Got One?

I've been looking at the Vmax manifold spacer for the 4.3L and was wondering if anyone has put one on? If so has it improved the performance?

I have a 01 Sonoma ZQ8 that has an Airaid cold air intake, Magnaflow exhaust and has been Hypertech programmed.

I found the instillation instructions here (http://216.109.125.130/search/cache?p=Street+%26+Performance+Manifold+Spacer+Dyn o&prssweb=Search&ei=UTF-8&fr=FP-tab-web-t&x=wrt&u=www.streetandperformanceelectronics.com/vmaxinst/11010%2520Install%2520Instructions.pdf&w=street+performance+manifold+spacer+dyno&d=FtQSLxbfMgBW&icp=1&.intl=us).

It seems pretty detailed but it didn't have a Dyno chart to prove performance was added. For nearly $270 I'd like to see some proof that this Manifold Spacer actually works. It seems like it would be better than the spacer that goes under the throttle body. The Vmax adds quite a bit more volume to the manifold so throttle response should be better, I would think.

If you have a Vmax spacer let me now what you think about it.

looks pretty cool, if it acually works, wouldn't mind getting one myself, the pictures are of the same exact engine as mine too!!

Does anyone have a theory as to the function of adding more plenum volume (via Vmax spacer) to a fuel injected 4.3L motor?

Adding a spacer to a carb motor usually helps in top end power. Helping in the mix of fuel and air, the transition of air to the runners and its effect on the plenum floor.

What I'm trying to figure out is, with my modification thus far, would a set of JBA headers or a hi-flo CAT be more beneficial than the manifold spacer? Seeing as a motor needs some backpressure to operate at its peek I think some exhaust restriction would be OK or needed.

In adding a manifold spacer does this affect the velocity of the air charge into the motor? Would more air volume=less velocity? Or in adding more Air volume to the manifold would the Computer add a corresponding amount of fuel thus increasing HP?

Any thoughts?

Ok I found a Dyno chart of a 2001 4.3L w/Vmax

4.3L Dyno Chart (http://www.streetandperformanceelectronics.com/v6.htm)

It looks like the spacer adds quite a bit more Tq. low in the power band. Adding 21 ft, lb. at 3300rpm. It does seem to cut both HP and Tq. past 5000rpm.

What do you think of the HP per dollar?
