If it is the issue with broken wires from the key cylinder, then you can check the reistance of the chip in the key, go to radio shack by resistors that equal the key chip solder them together. Remove the lower column cover and find the connector coming out of the column, 2 small white wires and unplug the connector, jump the resisor pack into the body side of the connector, this will replace the key cylinder reading the resistance.

PM received.
I agree with Max if that is your problem. There is a bypass procedure that can be performed on the Passkey system as he mentioned. I had the wiring diagram and procedure someplace.
Do you ever get the SECURITY light? Are you using the same key or have you tried a spare, if available. Try cleaning the resistor pellet contacts using a pencil eraser.

Here it is. Took me awhile to find it since I have so many bookmarks.
http://www.12vp.com/info_resistors.htm
Take note of how to measure both the key pellet and tumbler resistance to get the right averaged value. Also the wires are either 2 white or a white and purple. Can't miss them because they are from the key tumbler connector. Good luck!

lol  Thats funny.
Seriously, the resistor pellet is that little black square chip on your key.
On the wiring diagram send me a PM email with your regular email address and I'll send it to you as an attachment. I don't normally post service manual material.

your directions were right on. mine failed in the church parking lot (might have been a message) and i fixed it right there in less than 15 mins with a $.99 cent resistor from radio shack after reading your post. saved me a bundle, the lock shop wanted $200 plus towing to change the ignition switch out.
thanks to all of you who help out here.
