I test drove the new 2002 Civic Si hatchback today. That car is sweet. The best part of it is the interior. That and the k20 i-vtec engine. do any of you guys have it yet? And if so what are your thoughts on it so far?

ok i thought it sucked. i hated the rally shifter. it's practically at your chest and is far from you. my opinion may be more harsh on it because i had just previously test drove an rsx. and that car is bad ass. and when i drove the si it felt like i was driving a micro van. not for me. the seats are. the seats are bad ass. the guage cluster is ugly also

It is uglier than sh#! from the outside, all the previous si hatches looked just like the coupes, I don't know why they steered so far from that concept this time.

I liked the rally shifter and thought that it was a great introduction into mainstream autos. Personally I thought that the exterior on the 96-00 Hatchbacks looked better than this one.

Just to get my opinion out there:

I think that Honda made an IMPORVEMENT in the look of the hatchback. Personally, the last generation hatches did not appeal to me, but this one really does.
About the shifter, I guess I'd have to try it to form an opinion on its practicality... but we have to admit that we wouldn't mind having a leather red-stitched shifter over your stock one. I know I would!!

My stock rubber stick does the job and a civic aint no aston martin. I bet Honda put that stick there for publicity. The bad side is to drive the car (although i never drove it), you have to have both hands on the steering wheel, and I prefer to drive my car with one hand on top and one on shifter.

What I dislike most about the new Si, is the sticker price of $19,000 at my local dealer. That is ridiculous for an underwhelming hatchback, especially when other companies have become more competitive in the performance compact market.

i haven't test drove the new si or anything, but i have looked at em a few times. I love the seats, thats about it. one thing that really gets me is that the engine is a 2 liter pushing 160 STILL when it should be pushing 200. if the new si is supposed to be a sport compact i'd ditch the k20 and reengineer the engine to be a 2 liter 200 hp civic monster.
