Drop Diode for DRL

I have a '96 Trans Sport, that I purchased in NY and I live in FL.
The diode blew out on my DRL and I have searched all salvage yards in a 100 mile radius to no avail. The Stealer wants $149.00 for a new one and I won't pay that. Does anyone have, or know of any used drop diodes around. Any help will be apreciated.
Thanks

YOu can bypass it for a while..connect the 2 wires together: the lights will burn at normal intensity....in fact a lot of cars have daylight running lights at full intensity.
149$ for this ...never .
THese are simply 2 10 amps diodes in series. The 2 filaments at reduced voltage will draw no more than 6-7 amps combined which at 1.6V total drop means about 10 watt to sink ..hence the cooling fins. One can use diodes from a wrecked alternator or diodes taken at an electronic shop...these are really worth about a dollar or 2 each -- but it is a bit tricky to install the diodes with their bodies insulated from each other and from car ground when installing them on the heat sink..not a real problem but you have to arrange that correctly.

I have bypassed this already. Jumped a wire between the connector. Just down here we use the air so much and with lights @ full power is harder for the alt. in this heat.I have already noticed that the amp gauge is a little lower than usual, still charging, but with increased load .
