ok so ive got myself a 88 d16 to go back into my crx and it turns out to be from an automatic.... after 3 days of dealing with a piece of crap junkyard im so frustrated..so i guess my question is this motor will still do if i just install the fly wheel from my zc engine correct??? and i guess im gonna b ripping out the dash today to go through that rats nest of wires that needs to be swaped out instead of sticking with my original plan of getting an 86 87...


oh yeah 1 more question will a 86 head fit onto my 88 block or will the high domed pistons interfere with the head???

An '86 D16A1 head will fit on an '88 D16A1, no problem. But you will have to use the '86 vacuum advance distributor and cam angle sensor.

If you need a head and you're trying to use a vac advance distributor, you can use your '88-'89 ZC head if you swap the cam cap that the distributor attaches to from an '86-'87 head. This will allow you to use VA dizzy, but it will only be held on by one bolt.

The flywheel from an '86-'89 Integra ZC or D16A1 will swap right over.

cool thanks.. but heres whats up now.. sunday i took off the intake manifold and saw oil and dirt in the plenums.. so i did a compression test and only 1 cylinder had compression it had 120 psi ... the 3 other cylinders had barely like 15 psi... so i called up the auto wrecker today and told them so i exchanged it with another motor. they promised me that this 1 had compression but when i got home more bad luck.... pretty much the same thing with this 1 also.. Could a blown headgasket cause such a loss in compression??? my other guess would be a jumped timing belt that could of also bent the valves or an engine that only has rings in 3 cylinders...and my last question is i was thinking of swapping in a new headgasket and rechecking the compression or should i not waste my time and try to get my money back and take my business some where else?????

man dont i have bad luck lol

As you mentioned, it could be a bad headgasket, bad rings, or bad valves. You won't know which until you tear the motor apart. I'd take the motor back and have them run a compression test on it again.

If you want to go a little further with this motor, squirt a little oil in the cylinder before you test it. This will at least tell you if it's the rings that are causing the loss of compression, but it won't eliminate the possibility of a bad head gasket of bent valves.

ok so today i put a little oil in the cylinders and compression came up in 3 but cylinder #2 is only at 30 psi.... my guess is that ... im probably wrong but that the engine sat for so long that the pistons were completly dry of oil and im hopping that theres a blown headgasket somewhere...

when i did the test i had the intake and exhaust mani off and i could see the compressed air coming out the exhaust ports on #s 1-3-4 but not #2
just thought id throw that out there and see if any1 has any idea

ok so enough time and money wasted im going back to my stock si engine and getting a new short block so i can get it on the road again, that stupid a#@ autowrecker isnt working with me anymore.. when i got more time and money ill rebuild either my zc or my piece of crap d16a1 from the autowrecker

:banghead: Project cars have a way of testing your patience don't they...Take the engine back they will sell any rubbish and hope you can't be bothered to go back.Why not look for a sensible mileage but unloved Integra that you an drive and know runs well?I found one on E bay for £100,70k and 3 lady owners.They fetch very little in the UK.An 89 so fun with wires and stuff but motor and box feel good in the Teg,can't wait to get it in my civic.It ain't all roses tho',Been finding plenty of rust around splash guards now front wings and bumpers are stripped off...So I got plenty of welding and protection work to attend to before motor swaps.
Just gotta keep plugging away...Good luck:)

ya they can test ur patience alright but well ill just try again another time ... it sux but ya sh@t happens sometimes i guess. im still not gonna give up completly heck i bought that car 4 years ago for 250 dollars and the next day i blew it up lol no joke i was bein cocky and misplaced third gear with first and broke the timing belt doin like 60... the damage was a broke valve in the cylinder that looked like a hershey kiss and a hole in the piston the size of a silver dollar... since then ive had 2 other engins in also... well anyways ill get it back running in stock condition and see what i can come up with for the d series
