What exactly is your exhaust manifold? And where is it...

When you open your hood. You see the red valve cover? It's the thing that says "DOHC Vtec" on it.

It's closest to you when you pop open the hood. It's four pipes that come out of the "rear" of the engine but they're towards you. Stock you have a cover, but if you take the cover off it looks like four pipes coming out from your engine bending and going underneath it.

The intake manifold sucks air in and sends it through your combustion chambers to combust air and produce power for your engine with fuel to make the car go. When the engine is done combusting this air with fuel a combined mixture which is waste is needed to be sent out of your engine through the "exhaust manifold". One pipe for each cylinder, the exhaust gases are sent out, otherwise known as "car smog" through your exhaust piping from the manifold to a catalytic converter which cleans the exhaust gases so they are less lethal to the air and ozone layer, and then out through exhaust pipes through the muffler, which is a tool to send the exhaust out.

If you want I could post a pic circling the exhaust manifold if you'd like? It would not be hard for me to find a picture of a Type R engine bay.
