hey there, I'm new to the forum and wanted to say hello. but I have a few questions also :uhoh: some of you may hate me because I don't know the correct politics of forums in general, However, I did do a search on all subjects I thought might help my situation. I have a 1995 Eagle Talon ESI. The suspension is bad, but I have new springs, shocks and struts for it, Tokico GR-2's flame away, but it was what I could afford and in the future if I need to replace them I will. The springs are Tenzo R ebay lowering springs I guess 2"-2 1/4" Drop? "racing purple color not sure of spring rate" if this is a bad combo I will have to learn the hard way it is what I bought. I also have a complete prothane suspension kit to install. Not trying to come off rude but I notice alot of people get flamed here, I would just greatly appreciate some help. Above covers all of my suspension hardware, and I can tell that atleast one shock is bad because not only is there a terrible rattle in the front when going over bumps but there are gouges in the tire where the upper "balljoint bolt?" is hitting the tire during driving over rough roads etc. the gouges are about 5" apart from one another and are directly under the bolt in question so I am almost sure that is the issue. What I am asking is does anyone have a link for a write up of procedures for replacing both front and rear shocks/struts and springs hopefully I can figure out the prothane bushings part along the way I am almost sure they are labeled. what I really need to know is how big of a job is it? what tools will I need? and just out of curiousity how good of a setup is this? what I mean is does anyone think I will have problems with this combo? will it perform well? in any case it is what I will be installing but opinions are always a good thing. Try to understand that I am not new to 2nd gen DSM's but just would like to have everything I need and a helper here with me if it is needed so I don't have to stop what I'm doing and go rent a tool or whatever. if I posted this in the wrong thread I apologize, as I have said I am new here.
will try to get pics of my car up as soon as possible but don't know where to put them or how? it's a Metalic Charcoal, black roof/hatch, Invader CF hood, 17" Black Volution VRD10-R's Kumho tires. will also have a mod list setup after I get this job done. I have asked as respectfully as I can so I hope the response is good. if someone would prefer emailing me a link my email is [email protected]

Welcome to the forums!!

First of all, let me jsut say that the prothane suspension is a pain to install. I would seriously have that installed by a pro. It looks easy by looking at the parts, but once you get there, it will get messy quick. Also with those, your ride is going to be very bummpy. Every little dip in the road and thing you run over you will feel it badly. If the car is going to be used for regular driving, I would advise against getting the prothane mounts. I've read somewhere that the mounts (if done by a mechanic), you are looking at about 6 hours of installation, if not more.

I have those same springs (not installed), so I can't tell you how they feel.

Struts are rather easy to install. Again, I would advise getting it done if you're new to the car scene. Suspension is very important and I would advise against newbies doing the work themselves. However, they're are a lot of tutorials all over on line on changing shocks and struts. I think www.2gnt.com has something... not positive though. Look around, you'll find them. And of course, while doing the struts, it's very easy to install the springs then.

If you have any questions regarding the 420a motor and/or modding, feel free to ask me

First of all, welcome to the forums. Second, if you could take off the bold on your font and switch it to normal font, it would make it a ton easier to read. I know it's nice to be different, but that was a little difficult to read.

And about your suspension, what size tires are you running? I don't see how having all new suspension pieces is causing a problem. You might be looking into bigger problems than that if you are running new parts and are already looking to replace them. Get back to me on the tire size though.

EDIT: Alright I mis-read your post I think, now I understand it that you don't have the new parts installed. The job isn't all that tough, but make sure you get a spring compressor before removing the springs, otherwise they could cause a serious injury. As for the springs, they will probably ride quite rough and eventually start to sag. If I was you, I would just not install them and get a decent set of Eibach springs or a set of Ground Control coilovers if you're looking for something that's decent in price. That way you can sell the Tenzo R's for a little more because they haven't been installed. Just my .02

Alright the bold is off, here we go. the tires are 215/45/ZR17's. I will need to be replacing them soon so if another size is recommended advice is welcomed. The problem was caused I believe by the drive way/parking lot of My previous job very uneven dirt and terrible concrete work, that and hauling ass trying to punch in on time and driving over that type of surface fast, I would guess that was the problem. My new job is very nice has a nice parking lot and it's solid well kept roads all the way there. David-B, I have already purchased the suspension kit and with the way I drive I feel that I should take the extra time to install it, My best friend is an experienced mechanic who helps Me in exchange for computer work it's a great trade. I assure you I am not ignoring your advice I just don't feel like trying to sell it when I can have it installed, this is My personal car I do race locally against cars in My class and it does very well, what I mean by this is I don't mind if the ride is a bit bumpy.

The Tenzo-R springs I am going to install anyway only because I can't afford to spend any money on new parts right now, I recently quit My job and was unemployed for a month, just got a new job and am trying to catch up on loans and get things back in order. when I can afford to buy the eibach's I assure you I will either get those or 'Tein Tien? not sure of the spelling right off the top of my head' David-B, about modding a 2g Eclipse/Talon NT. I currently have sooooo many parts sitting around waiting to be installed I am sure that if I don't pay to have it done I will have lots of questions. Below is a list of what I have installed currently-

Engine mods:
OBX lightweight UD pulley
MSD coil pack
Triple core 10.2mm plug wires

AEM adjustable cam gears
Eagle H-Beam rods
need advice on what pistons to get I plan on running NO2 once in a while most of the time it will be an all motor setup
Clevite 77 OS bearings
Multi layer steel head gasket
ARP main studs
ARP Head studs
OBX high flow intake manifold "was told this was worthless but I like it"
OBX high flow fuel rail
Accell 36lb injectors
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Walbro 190 lph fuel pump
Tokico HP struts
Tenzo-R lowering springs
Prothane motor mount kit
Prothane master suspension kit
Spal 8" intake fan 'going to mount it to the hood under the vent to pull cold air into engine bay.
F2 fiberglass fenders the ones with the large vent , plan to purge No2 from the vents also will have them setup to vent hot air out of engine area.

I am sure I probably missed either something installed or something I already have here but the point is I have lots of work ahead of me. I plan to buy fidanza light weight flywheel, and a KOYO radiator. much more will follow and, my goal is I think realistic looking for about 300 HP to the wheels if I do run NO2 it would be just a 50 shot wet setup to avoid engine damage, internals will be built to handle much more but 50 is a good starting point and no point in spending all this money and then blowing the engine. let me know what you guys think, and sorry for not jumping on the idea of buying the other springs and selling these I honestly don't have the means right now.
thank you for reading. I will check out that 2gnt.com for info on the project this weekend.

Well, I don't know what to tell you whats causing the problem with gouging your tires, just make sure you give everything DAMN good inspection while you're replacing the suspension parts. Do a very thorough visual inspection and just make sure everything is in order and working right.
