I HAVE A 1994 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, IT STARTS BUT WILL DIE AFTER A FEW SECONDS, WHEN I PUMP THE GAS, IT SPUTTERS AND TRIES TO STAY ON. SOMETIMES I CAN DRIVE IT, BUT IF I'M AT A STOPLIGHT, IT WILL JUST DIE. I CHECKED THE COIL IT'S FINE AND REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER. I'M THINKING IT MIGHT BE THE IGNITION SWITCH OR FUEL PUMP??? PLEASE ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!! :banghead:

My 94 3.0 Liter would do the same as you described, took it in and turned out to be a faulty Idle Air Control motor (I think thats what its called).

Some other things you might check are the fuel pump and the fuel injectors. The injectors might need cleaning. The fuel pump might be on its way out. Other things that can cause problems with the 3.3/3.8 are the cam and crank sensors. If they go bad, the engine dies. Had to replace my cam sensor last summer. It would die, then restart, then die again. Didn't have any sputtering though.

keep in mind, two other more common places to look at: first a dirty throttle body will have this same effect or a sticky EGR valve will also do the same, by far the least expensive is the dirty throttle body, a can of cleaner for 4.00 and away you go.
just something to check...

Thank you, I will check to see if any of these are the problem. Thanks for the advice.
