Can't open driver's door of 1991 celica

I've been searching for an answer to this prob, hoping I can find one here...or at least some suggestions.
I have a rustbucket 91 celica GT. It is my winter beater, so I only drive it during the salt months. The driver's door won't open. The locks work, but both handles feel like they aren't connected to the levers inside. I am looking for some kind of door schematic, so I can cut into the door without harming very much. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Chris

Unbolt all the interior parts from the door. May have to cut the door panel to get it to pull away from the door. You now have access to the inner workings. Follow the linkage from the door handles to the latch.

I kinda thought I'd have to cut the door panel. Problem is, I don't want to cut into any of the wiring. that's why I was looking to find a door schematic...anyone know if a chiltons-type manual would have that info?
thanks for the reply, KimMG.

The door panel is very thin (1/8" maybe less). There shouldn't be any wiring around the edge. Do not cut into the metal of the door. If you cut into the metal, you may loose your window regulator support among other things.
It is possible the dealer may have a schematic or a blown-out diagram at the parts counter. If you go in when the parts guy is not to busy and buy an oil filter or something, he may show you and make you a copy.

KimMG, thx for the great idear!:icon16:
I was thinking of trying the library this weekend, but I may just stop by a stealer and try schmoozing the parts person. :naughty::grinno:

I have found the local Toyota dealer to have reasonable prices on some items such as filters. I get a discount with my auto club membership.
